The best documented all-round Xbox Elite Series 2 alternative here is the 8BitDo Ultimate 3E: it supports 2.4G wireless or wired play on Xbox and Windows and offers two rear buttons plus two extra remappable bumpers. If you want six remappable controls and do not mind a cable, consider the Razer Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition. The 8BitDo Ultimate Wired Controller for Xbox is a simpler two-button wired option. These are feature alternatives, not exact replacements for the Elite Series 2’s four paddles.
How these alternatives compare
The Elite Series 2 is a useful reference point: Microsoft lists compatibility with Xbox systems and Windows PCs, four paddles, manually adjustable thumbstick tension with three settings, app-adjustable sensitivity curves, and up to 40 hours of battery life per charge. Microsoft says Windows 10 and 11 connection options include Bluetooth, the included USB cable, or a separately sold Xbox Wireless Adapter. Battery life varies with use and other factors. Microsoft’s Elite Series 2 specifications also list the Accessories app for Xbox consoles and Windows 10/11.

Best wireless Elite Series 2 alternative: 8BitDo Ultimate 3E
Choose the Ultimate 3E if you want wireless play on both Xbox and Windows without giving up configurable extra controls. Its 2.4G wireless mode works on those platforms, and it can also connect by USB. Its two rear buttons and two extra remappable bumpers offer four additional control points, but that arrangement is not the Elite’s four-paddle layout.
#1 Best Overall

There is an important platform distinction: Bluetooth is for mobile devices, not Xbox or Windows use as described on the product page. The advertised 1000Hz polling rate and six-axis motion control are PC-only, not Xbox-console features. 8BitDo states 18 hours of play time and four to five hours for charging; these are manufacturer figures rather than independent battery measurements.
Best wired option with six extra controls: Razer Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition
The Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition is the choice for players who prioritize extra remappable inputs over wireless convenience. Razer lists four back buttons and two claw-grip bumpers, all remappable, plus Hall Effect thumbsticks and trigger locks. The locks switch between short, mouse-click-like actuation and analog trigger control.

This controller is wired only: Razer says it connects to Xbox Series X|S and PC using the included 10-foot cable. Razer lists polling at 250Hz on Xbox and 1000Hz in PC Tournament Mode. Those published specifications should not be read as proof of lower perceived latency or better results in play.

8BitDo’s Ultimate Software can map controls, adjust stick and trigger sensitivity and vibration, and save custom profiles; the FAQ says this model can store three. The FAQ also distinguishes the controller from its software: the controller itself is not compatible with Android/iOS games or macOS, even though mobile software can configure it.
When a standard Xbox Wireless Controller is enough
If you need a conventional Xbox controller and do not require Elite-style rear controls or premium configuration, Microsoft’s Xbox accessories catalog lists the Xbox Wireless Controller as an option. The catalog consulted here does not provide a feature-by-feature comparison establishing that it matches the Elite Series 2 or the alternatives above, so treat it as a simpler baseline rather than a pro-feature substitute.

Which controller should you choose?
- Choose the 8BitDo Ultimate 3E for documented 2.4G wireless use on both Xbox and Windows plus several configurable extra controls.
- Choose the Razer Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition if six remappable extra controls matter more than being untethered.
- Choose the 8BitDo Ultimate Wired Controller for Xbox for two rear buttons and profile-based software customization in a simpler wired package.
- Choose the standard Xbox Wireless Controller if you only need a conventional controller and do not need Elite-style controls.
Before buying, confirm the exact model’s supported connection on your platform and check whether its extra controls match your preferred layout. A feature listed for PC does not necessarily work on Xbox, and manufacturer claims about Hall or TMR components, polling rates, and battery life are specifications—not independent proof of durability or measured advantage.
