The best alternative depends on what you want to change: choose Fitbit Inspire 3 for a small screen and Google Health, Garmin Cirqa for a screenless band with workout and recovery tools, or Oura Ring 4 for passive wellness tracking in a ring. For a fuller smartwatch experience, consider Fitbit Charge 6, Pixel Watch 4, or Apple Watch Series 11. The available comparisons do not establish a controlled accuracy winner.

- Form factor: decide whether you prefer a wrist band, a display-equipped tracker, a ring, or a full smartwatch.
- Screen and controls: a screen is useful for quick glances and on-device interaction; a screenless device is designed for more passive tracking. Physical controls can help when starting workouts.
- Phone and app ecosystem: the options here use Google Health, Garmin Connect, Oura’s app, or Apple’s ecosystem. Confirm current phone support and regional availability.
- Exercise features: distinguish connected GPS, which relies on a phone, from onboard GPS. The reviewed Garmin Cirqa comparison describes connected GPS.
- Wellness and recovery: compare the sleep, stress, and recovery information you want, and check whether any features require a membership.
- Ownership and charging: consider device cost and any recurring subscription together. Battery claims below are reported by reviewers, not guaranteed runtimes; actual duration varies with use.

Tech Advisor describes the Inspire 3 as a slim tracker with a small display. Its screen lets you check information at a glance and start workouts without taking out your phone. The same comparison says it connects to Google Health, making it the most straightforward choice here if you want a screen but prefer to remain in the Fitbit/Google ecosystem. Tech Advisor does not provide a current price in the cited comparison, so its general description of the tracker as inexpensive should not be treated as a live price claim.

Garmin Cirqa: screenless tracking with a training emphasis
Garmin Cirqa is a better fit if you are willing to give up a display in exchange for a band oriented toward workouts and recovery. Wareable’s 2026-08-10 comparison describes it as screenless, paired with Garmin Connect, and equipped with a physical button for starting and ending workouts. Wareable reports connected GPS, more than 80 activities, and no required subscription; these are review-reported specifications, not independent measurements.
For battery context, Wareable reports up to 10 days for Cirqa versus up to 7 days for Fitbit Air. Tom’s Guide’s 2026-08-08 review reports around 10 days in its testing. The distinction matters: one is a published maximum claim and the other a reviewer’s experience, and neither guarantees runtime for every user. Tom’s Guide also listed prices of $199 for Cirqa and $99 for Fitbit Air in that dated review; those figures are historical, market-specific context rather than current shopping prices.

Oura Ring 4: passive wellness in a different form
Oura Ring 4 changes the form factor from wrist to finger. Android Authority describes it as focused on sleep, recovery, stress, and longer-term trends. That emphasis suits someone who wants passive wellness tracking in a ring more than workout controls on the device itself.
It is not a one-for-one fitness-tracker substitute for everyone. Android Authority says workout tools, GPS tracking, and real-time training feedback are less central than they are on a tracker or smartwatch. Choose it for the ring format and wellness focus, not as a replacement for every exercise feature.

When a more interactive tracker or smartwatch makes sense
If your priority is a screen and broader interaction rather than a minimal band, Android Authority also identifies Fitbit Charge 6 and Google Pixel Watch 4 as more feature-oriented alternatives. It characterizes Pixel Watch 4 as a fit for people seeking apps, Google tools, and smartwatch features. For iPhone users who want a richer interactive device, it presents Apple Watch Series 11 as an option. These are the outlet’s editorial assessments; check current feature details and compatibility for your phone before choosing.

Google’s Fitbit Air technical specifications list Android 11.0 or later and iOS 16.4 or later as requirements, along with Bluetooth LE, an internet connection, and phone location permissions for syncing. The document identifies Google Health as required. It lists the tracker at 5.2 g without its band and 12 g with its band. These are specifications for Fitbit Air, not compatibility or weight claims for the alternatives above.

The same Google specification document cautions: “Like all heart rate tracking technologies, accuracy is affected by physiology, location of device and different movements.” That is the manufacturer’s caveat, not an independent assessment of Fitbit Air or a comparison with other devices. The cited alternatives coverage does not provide comparable independent accuracy measurements, so it cannot establish which device tracks health metrics most accurately.
