Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe strongest starting setup for Deep Dish Dungeon is your monitor’s native resolution in Fullscreen, Medium or High quality, and a carefully adjusted Brightness (Gamma) value. Use V-Sync if tearing is distracting; turn it off and cap your frame rate sensibly when control delay matters more. If your hardware struggles, lower resolution before making smaller visual compromises. For controls, use whichever supported device gives you the steadiest movement, then remap repeated actions such as dodge so they are easy to reach.
These are configuration recommendations based on the game’s documented settings and update notes, not a claim of benchmark testing. Your best combination depends on your display, computer, sensitivity preference and tolerance for tearing or input delay.

Recommended baseline settings
Start with the following order. Change one setting at a time so you can tell which adjustment solved a problem.
- Resolution: choose the display’s native resolution whenever the game remains smooth enough to play.
- Display mode: select Fullscreen rather than stretching a lower-resolution image across the desktop.
- Quality: use High if frame pacing remains stable; otherwise select Medium. The documented update removed Low Quality options, so Medium is the lower remaining preset.
- Brightness (Gamma): raise or lower it until floor detail, doorways and enemies in dark rooms are readable without making the whole dungeon look washed out.
- V-Sync: enable it when visible tearing is your main complaint. If movement feels delayed, disable it and use a sensible frame cap supplied by your display, driver or frame-rate tool.
- Controls: choose keyboard and mouse or a controller according to which one gives you more consistent movement. Open the binding screen and move high-frequency actions, especially dodge, to comfortable buttons or keys.
The official update notes state that Gamma now affects the game’s visuals, controller support works in-game, bindings switch between controller and keyboard in real time, and settings save correctly after relaunching. Those details make it worth adjusting the actual in-game settings instead of relying only on operating-system or driver controls.

How each graphics setting changes the experience
Native resolution and Fullscreen
Native resolution preserves the one-to-one pixel detail your monitor was designed to show. In a dark dungeon, that helps separate wall texture, floor edges and distant silhouettes, so it is the clearest first choice when your computer has enough headroom.
Fullscreen is the appropriate baseline for a single-game session because it gives the game direct control of the display mode and avoids asking the system to scale a non-native desktop image. If you use a capture utility, multiple monitors or frequent task switching, borderless or windowed behavior may be more convenient if available, but the documented clarity recommendation remains native resolution in Fullscreen.
Medium and High quality
The cited update notes say that Low Quality options were removed while Medium and High remained. Treat Medium as the fallback preset rather than searching for a hidden Low mode. High is the visual-first choice when frame pacing stays consistent; Medium is the practical choice when the image hitches or input becomes uneven.

Quality presets affect several rendering features at once. They are therefore useful for finding a stable starting point, but they do not tell you which individual effect is responsible for a problem. If the game is already on Medium and still struggles, reducing resolution is the largest straightforward adjustment described in the optimization guidance.
Brightness (Gamma) for dark rooms
Brightness is not merely a monitor preference in this game. The official notes specifically say that the Brightness (Gamma) setting affects the game’s visuals. Adjust it while standing in a representative dark area, not in a bright menu or opening room.

- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
- If black areas merge into one mass, increase Gamma gradually until you can distinguish nearby surfaces and hazards.
- If the dungeon loses contrast and every shadow becomes gray, lower Gamma one step at a time.
- Recheck after changing display mode or resolution, because your monitor’s perceived contrast can change when its scaling behavior changes.
There is no universal correct Gamma number. The useful target is readable detail without flattening the lighting that creates the game’s atmosphere.
V-Sync, tearing and perceived latency
V-Sync coordinates presented frames with the display refresh cycle. Enabling it is the direct first response when a horizontal tear appears during a turn or fast camera movement. Its trade-off is that waiting for the next refresh can make controls feel less immediate on some systems.

The cap should keep rendering from running needlessly far ahead of the display; use the limiter available in the game, your graphics driver or a trusted frame-rate utility. This is a latency-oriented configuration, not a guarantee of a particular millisecond result. If disabling V-Sync introduces distracting tearing, return to V-Sync or test the cap again at a lower value.
Distant torch lights and optimization changes
The update notes mention an optimization in which distant wall-torch lights can switch off. That behavior is an intentional performance-related change, not necessarily a graphics failure. Do not treat every missing far-away light as evidence that your Gamma or quality setting is broken. Evaluate readability where you are actually moving and fighting, then check whether the symptom persists after relaunching.

Choosing settings for your hardware
Desktop with comfortable headroom
Select native resolution, Fullscreen and High. Play through a dark section and a busy combat area rather than judging only the title screen. If motion remains even, keep the profile and tune Gamma for visibility. Choose V-Sync based on what you notice first: enable it for tearing, or disable it and add a cap if the controls feel behind your input.

Begin with native resolution, Fullscreen and Medium. This preserves display sharpness while reducing the broader rendering load. If you still see hitching, lower resolution before abandoning Fullscreen or chasing less significant adjustments. Once movement is stable, revisit Gamma; a darker image can look like a performance problem when it is actually a visibility problem.
Older or integrated graphics
Use Medium and lower resolution only as far as needed to make movement consistent. The guidance identifies resolution as the largest straightforward performance adjustment, so it should come before speculative changes to unrelated system settings. Keep a note of your original resolution so you can restore it after a hardware upgrade or driver change.
Steam Deck
SteamDB records indicators for default-controller functionality, legible interface text and a performant default graphics configuration. These indicators are useful compatibility signals, not a promise of a fixed frame rate or identical behavior after every game update.
Start with the shipped graphics profile, confirm that the active input is detected, and adjust Gamma in a representative dungeon room. If you change resolution or synchronization behavior, make one change at a time and check both readability and control consistency. The Deck’s physical controls make binding reachability especially important: actions used while moving should not require an awkward thumb stretch.

Controller and keyboard settings
What is confirmed
The official update notes confirm in-game controller support and realtime detection of the active input device. The key-binding screen switches between controller and keyboard bindings in realtime, so you can connect a controller, move the stick or press a button, and then configure the control scheme shown for that device. PCGamingWiki also records remappable keyboard and mouse controls, mouse-sensitivity adjustment, mouse-acceleration adjustment, mouse input for menus and Y-axis inversion.
Set up the device you actually use
- Connect the controller before entering the binding screen, or move the mouse and press a keyboard key if you intend to configure that layout.
- Open the game’s Settings or Options menu and choose the controls or key-bindings page. Use the labels presented by your current build; the screen can change when the active device changes.
- Test ordinary movement, camera movement, attack, interact and dodge before changing every binding.
- Remap the actions you repeat most often. Dodge is a high-priority candidate because it interrupts movement and must be reachable without releasing your movement direction.
- Adjust mouse sensitivity if camera movement is too slow or too twitchy. If the cursor or camera accelerates unpredictably, test the mouse-acceleration setting.
- Choose Y-axis inversion only if it matches your established muscle memory. Check it in a safe area before starting a difficult run.
- Relaunch the game and verify that the bindings remain. The official notes say settings save correctly after relaunching, so a lost layout points to a separate configuration problem.
Keyboard-and-mouse considerations
Keyboard and mouse gives direct access to many actions, but the default layout may not place every movement-interrupting action where your hand naturally rests. Put dodge and other emergency actions on keys or mouse buttons that remain reachable while strafing. Use a sensitivity that lets you turn without lifting the mouse repeatedly, then make small changes rather than compensating with extreme in-game values.
Controller considerations
A controller is a supported input method, not an unofficial workaround. Prioritize bindings that let you maintain movement while looking, attacking and dodging. If you alternate between controller and keyboard, remember that the binding screen follows the active device; configure each layout separately instead of assuming a keyboard change also altered the controller profile.

Camera bob, camera shake and motion sensitivity
Some players in a Steam discussion ask for camera-bobbing and camera-shake options because those effects can contribute to motion sickness. That discussion does not establish that toggles exist, nor does it prove that they are absent from the current build.
After an update, inspect the current Settings or Options menus for camera, motion or accessibility controls. If no toggle is present, the documented evidence does not support promising that bob or shake can be disabled. You can still reduce discomfort by testing shorter sessions, increasing visual contrast with Gamma, choosing the input method that produces the least over-correction, and stopping when symptoms begin. Those are comfort measures, not substitutes for a confirmed camera-effect setting.
Troubleshooting by symptom
| Symptom | What to check first | Next adjustment |
|---|---|---|
| Horizontal lines or breaks during turns | Whether V-Sync is disabled | Enable V-Sync and retest in the same area |
| Controls feel delayed | Whether V-Sync is adding a noticeable wait | Try V-Sync off with a sensible frame cap; restore synchronization if tearing becomes unacceptable |
| Hitching despite Medium quality | Whether native resolution is too demanding | Reduce resolution first, keeping Fullscreen and Medium while you compare |
| Dark rooms hide doorways or enemies | Brightness (Gamma) in the current build | Raise Gamma gradually in a representative dark room, then lower it if contrast is washed out |
| Image looks softer than expected | Whether the game is below the display’s native resolution | Restore native resolution if the system can sustain it |
| Bindings appear to change unexpectedly | Which input device is currently active | Switch deliberately to the intended device, configure its bindings, then relaunch to confirm saving |
| Distant wall torches are not lit | Whether the location is far from the player | Consider the documented light-source optimization before treating it as a failure; check for broader visual problems after relaunching |
| Motion causes discomfort | Whether the current build exposes camera-bob or camera-shake controls | Check the latest settings menu; availability remains unconfirmed in the cited evidence |
Limits of the available performance advice
No authoritative source in the cited material publishes an FPS target, latency measurement, hardware benchmark or test result for these settings. Avoid judging a configuration against an invented number. Instead, evaluate the two things you can observe on your system: whether frame delivery feels even during movement and whether your chosen input reaches the game when you expect it to.
Recommended Free Tools
Likewise, a Steam Deck compatibility indicator is not the same as a laboratory test, and a community request for a motion option is not proof of a missing feature. Treat those distinctions as part of setting up the game correctly: use documented controls where they exist, identify unresolved options in the current menu, and change one variable at a time.
