A five-quarter chart cited in Rick Munarriz’s October 5, 2026, Motley Fool article offers a bullish counterpoint to the Nvidia bear case: it shows four initial post-earnings declines that, in the author’s reading, had been recovered by the next report. But five episodes are not a market rule. The chart is one observation to weigh alongside Nvidia’s reported growth, expectations and risks—not evidence that the next dip will rebound.
What the five-quarter chart shows
Munarriz says the chart, with data attributed to YCharts, marks Nvidia earnings reports and subsequent share-price movements. In his interpretation, NVDA initially fell after four of the five reports, then regained those losses and more before the next report; after the fifth, the immediate reaction was positive. The chart covers five earnings-report moments, not a long-term test of what happens after every Nvidia earnings release. The price pattern is the article’s reading; it has not been independently recalculated here. Read Munarriz’s article.

That distinction matters: a sequence of price moves does not show that earnings caused them, explain why investors changed their bids, or establish that any future decline will recover. Nor does recovery before the next report mean every investor who bought at a high would have been made whole on their own timeline.
Revenue growth accelerated across the cited fiscal quarters
The article pairs the chart with a rising sequence of year-over-year revenue growth. The labels below are Nvidia fiscal quarters, not calendar quarters. Official NVIDIA releases confirm four figures; the 63% figure for Q3 FY2026 is reported in the Motley Fool article and is not independently confirmed by an official release among the sources cited here.

- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
| NVIDIA fiscal quarter | Revenue growth year over year | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Q2 FY2026 | 56% | NVIDIA, August 27, 2025 |
| Q3 FY2026 | 63% | The Motley Fool article, October 5, 2026; not independently confirmed against an official release here |
| Q4 FY2026 | 73% | NVIDIA, February 25, 2026 |
| Q1 FY2027 | 85% | NVIDIA, May 20, 2026 |
| Q2 FY2027 | 106% | NVIDIA, August 26, 2026 |
The sequence supports the narrower point that Nvidia reported accelerating year-over-year growth across these quarters. Growth rates alone do not establish how much future growth investors expect or whether the share price already reflects it.
What NVIDIA reported in Q2 FY2027
In its August 26, 2026 release, NVIDIA reported $96.2 billion in revenue for Q2 FY2027, up 106% year over year. Data Center revenue was $89.0 billion, up 117% year over year. These are reported quarterly results, not projections. NVIDIA’s Q2 FY2027 results also include management’s outlook, which should be read as forward-looking rather than as revenue already earned.

CEO Jensen Huang described the business in that release this way: “AI has reached its inflection point. It’s doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue,”. That is management’s characterization, not independent proof that current demand or returns will persist. NVIDIA’s release cautions that statements about outlook, market growth, AI industries and future products involve risks and uncertainties.
Buyback authorization is not the same as money spent
The Motley Fool article cites a further $150 billion in buyback authorization. An authorization permits repurchases; it is not itself a completed purchase or a promise that the full amount will be spent. NVIDIA’s Q2 FY2027 release reported about $99.0 billion remaining under its repurchase authorization at quarter end. Keep those figures distinct: the article’s cited authorization and the company’s reported remaining authorization measure different things.

The article also cites analyst forward earnings estimates. Estimates are expectations, not Nvidia’s actual earnings or company guidance. Its author disclosure says Rick Munarriz owns Nvidia shares and The Motley Fool holds and recommends Nvidia; readers should consider that context when weighing the article’s bullish framing.

The chart gives a bearish investor a reason to examine the full path of prices around earnings rather than treating the first post-report decline as the whole story. It does not settle the investment case. A share price responds to expectations as well as operating results: a company can post strong growth and still disappoint investors if results or outlook fall short of what they anticipated.

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Powered by GeForce RTX 5060
- Integrated with 8GB GDDR7 128bit memory interface
- PCIe 5.0

- Operating performance: reported revenue growth and Data Center contribution show the scale and pace of recent business results.
- Expectations: analyst estimates and the market’s pricing of future growth can shape the reaction to an earnings release. Estimates are not realized results.
- Durability and competition: recent growth does not by itself establish how long customer spending will continue or how competition may affect future results.
- Valuation and timing: the five-event chart does not determine whether the current share price is attractive, or when a recovery might happen.
