For quick checks of how a client reacts to common HTTP responses, Supercrontab’s fixed catalog lists 112 mock URLs: eight response formats paired with 14 preset status codes. The catalog needs no signup, according to its author. It is useful for simple status-dependent behavior, parser checks, and frontend error states—but it does not offer arbitrary status codes or configurable responses through those static URLs.
How the 112 mock URLs are counted
The catalog described by author Emma uses hostnames in the form demo-{format}-{status}.supercrontab.com. The eight formats are JSON, XML, plain text, CSV, HTML, YAML, RSS, and JavaScript. Each is paired with 14 status choices, for a total of 8 × 14 = 112 URLs.

| Formats | Preset status codes |
|---|---|
| json, xml, txt, csv, html, yaml, rss, js | 200, 201, 204, 400, 401, 403, 404, 409, 422, 429, 500, 502, 503, 504 |
The phrase “whatever HTTP status you ask for” describes the purpose broadly, but the fixed catalog itself offers these 14 listed choices, not every possible status code. The host pattern and choices are reported in Emma’s DEV Community article; the article did not independently verify live responses.
What you can test with a fixed response
Retry and error-handling logic
Use a 503 URL to check whether a client retries a temporary server error, and a 400 URL to verify that it does not treat a bad request as retryable. These are example use cases described by the article author, not results from an independent test.

Response parsing
Try the CSV and XML variants to exercise basic parser paths against the small response bodies described in the article. A lightweight sample can catch assumptions about parsing, but it does not substitute for representative production payloads or a full schema-validation suite.
Frontend error states
A 429 response can help trigger a rate-limit or “try again later” screen in a frontend. The author also describes using the URLs for this kind of interface check.
How to make a request
Replace {format} with one of the eight formats and {status} with one of the 14 listed codes. For example, a request to a hostname following the 503 JSON pattern can be made with:

Emma’s article includes a sample curl -i transcript showing an HTTP/2 503 response with an application/json body, and says browser calls are allowed through CORS. These are the author’s reported details; the live service was not tested independently. The article identifies the Supercrontab index as the place for sample bodies, curl and fetch snippets, and retry notes: Supercrontab.

Static catalog versus configurable endpoints
The 112 no-signup URLs are a fixed catalog. They should not be confused with the separate account-based configurable endpoints described in the article. Those endpoints are presented as a way to define a response rather than choose from the static combinations.
- Fixed URLs: no signup, preset formats, and 14 preset statuses.
- Configurable endpoints: the article says a free account can set a status, content type, response body up to 64 KB, delay, and error rate, and can optionally add Basic, Bearer, API-key, or HMAC authentication and request logging.
The article reports free-plan limits of three endpoints, 30 requests per minute, and 500 requests per day. Those are author-reported plan details, not independently verified current guarantees; check the service’s own current terms before relying on them.

When a static mock URL is not enough
A fixed URL is convenient when the test only needs a particular status and format. Choose a more configurable mock when the client must receive different responses based on request details, use saved examples, or wait for a deliberate delay.
Request matching and saved examples
Postman’s mock-server documentation describes saving response examples in a collection and configuring response bodies, headers, and status codes. It also documents selecting a response by a status-code header or matching request body and headers. Creating a server through its API requires a Postman API key; the guide says a created server is public by default unless configured as private. See Postman’s mock-server setup guide.

Delays and richer scenarios
Postman documents a response-delay header accepting values from 1 to 180,000 milliseconds. That provides a more controlled way to test latency than the fixed catalog described above. The Supercrontab article separately reports a delay option for its account-based endpoints, but no independent verification of that feature is available here.
Another service, httpstatus.codes, currently describes GET-based status routes, delay and custom response-header options, plus routes for redirects, request inspection, streaming, response size, and encodings. Its page says it requires no API key and allows 120 requests per minute, while advising against high-volume production or load testing. These are that service’s own claims, not features or limits of Supercrontab. See httpstatus.codes.
Quick Recap
Choose the lightest tool that fits the test
- Use one of the static URLs for a quick check of status handling, basic parsing, or a frontend error state.
- Use a configurable endpoint when you need a custom body, content type, delay, intermittent failure behavior, or authentication.
- Use a mock-server workflow with saved examples and request matching when the response must depend on the incoming request.
- Do not treat a functional mock URL as a production dependency or a load-testing target; the cited material does not establish reliability or production suitability for the Supercrontab URLs.
