Design, preview, export, transfer, and applying the wrap in the car are separate steps.
Choose the template for your exact Tesla
Open Tesla’s custom-wrap repository and select the template that matches both your vehicle model and the variant listed there. Similar model names do not guarantee the same template layout. The repository lists Cybertruck; Model 3 variants; Model Y variants; Model S variants; and Model X. Its listed variants include Model 3 Standard/Premium and Performance from 2024 onward, Model Y Standard, Premium, Performance, and Model Y L from 2025 onward, Model S 2021 onward and 2025 onward Plaid, and Model X 2021 onward. Check the live repository because supported templates can change.

Tesla describes these as templates for custom wraps for its “3D vehicle visualization.” They are not instructions for installing physical vinyl on the car.
Edit the flat template
Use the selected template as the design surface and fill in its white areas. Tesla’s repository does not prescribe a particular image-editing program. Work from the template PNG rather than using a screenshot of a rendered car: the template is the file intended for the custom design.

Use a 3D preview as a separate visual check
Some third-party editors provide both a template canvas and a vehicle preview. If yours does, inspect the artwork across the vehicle surfaces, then return to the template to adjust placement as needed. The preview is a useful visual check, not a guarantee that the final in-car rendering will look exactly the same. Tesla’s repository does not endorse a third-party editor or promise a third-party preview.
Validate the exported PNG
Check the actual exported file, not just what appears in the editor. Tesla’s repository instructions, observed in 2026, specify these requirements:

- File size: No more than 1 MB.
- Filename: No longer than 30 characters; use alphanumeric characters, underscores, dashes, and spaces.
Tesla lists a limit of up to 10 wraps uploaded through the mobile app and up to 10 from USB. These are separate transfer routes.
Transfer the wrap to the car
Upload with the Tesla mobile app
Tesla’s instructions specify app version 4.59.0 or later. In the app, go to Creations → Wrap → Upload and select the PNG.

Load it from a USB drive
Tesla lists exFAT, FAT32, MS-DOS FAT, ext3, and ext4 as supported file systems; NTFS is not supported. Create a folder named Wraps at the root of the drive and place the PNG files inside. Do not include map or firmware update files on the drive.
Apply it in the vehicle
After transfer, open Toybox → Paint Shop → Wraps in the car and select the design. Uploading or copying the file does not itself apply the wrap.
