Is Bluehost AI Store the Same as WooCommerce? Key Differences Explained

Bluehost AI Store is a hosted, guided WooCommerce bundle—not a replacement for WooCommerce. Compare its setup, payment limits, customization, and costs with a standalone store.

No—though Bluehost AI Store uses WooCommerce as its underlying ecommerce engine. AI Store bundles WooCommerce with Bluehost hosting and an AI-guided setup and management experience. “Standalone WooCommerce” means choosing and configuring a WordPress site, host, and WooCommerce setup yourself. The practical choice is between a guided bundle and greater control over your store’s technical stack.

What Bluehost AI Store and WooCommerce actually are

Bluehost describes AI Store as an ecommerce service built on WordPress and WooCommerce, with Bluehost hosting and AI tools layered on top. It says changes made through its AI portal synchronize with WooCommerce. The product is therefore not a separate commerce engine replacing WooCommerce; it is a Bluehost-managed way to use it. Bluehost’s AI Store product page and its comparison page describe that arrangement.

WooCommerce, by contrast, is an open-source ecommerce platform for WordPress. A standalone setup lets the merchant select a host and configure WordPress, WooCommerce, themes, plugins, and integrations. WooCommerce’s core platform has no subscription or platform fee, but that does not make the complete store free: hosting, payment processing, optional extensions, and any development work can cost money. See WooCommerce’s pricing page and documentation.

How the two options differ

Decision area Bluehost AI Store Standalone WooCommerce
Underlying platform WordPress and WooCommerce, bundled with Bluehost hosting and AI-guided management. WooCommerce on WordPress, with the merchant selecting and configuring the setup.
Initial setup Bluehost says the site automatically installs and activates WooCommerce, with AI features to guide setup. The merchant configures hosting, WordPress, WooCommerce, and chosen integrations.
Hosting Included in the Bluehost package described on its product page. Chosen and paid for by the merchant; cost depends on host and requirements.
Themes and plugins Bluehost’s AI Store documentation describes restrictions on installing, deactivating, or deleting plugins and installing or switching themes through restricted WordPress admin areas. Open-source and designed to be extended; the merchant chooses the implementation and manages it.
Store management Bluehost describes AI agents and a central dashboard for products, orders, inventory, customers, and store performance. WooCommerce supplies commerce tools; the merchant chooses hosting and any additional functionality.
Payment options Bluehost’s current documentation identifies Stripe as the only supported payment method within AI Store. WooCommerce supports a range of payment solutions; payment-provider fees may apply.
Cost structure A paid Bluehost bundle, with trial, plan, term, and renewal details to check. No monthly subscription or platform fee for core WooCommerce, but hosting, processing, extensions, and development can add costs.

These descriptions reflect the vendors’ product pages and documentation, not an independent side-by-side performance test. Bluehost’s details on AI Store access and payments are in its plugin access and activation documentation. WooCommerce describes its extensibility in its developer documentation.

What the published prices do—and do not—tell you

Pricing below is based on the vendors’ pages accessed October 7, 2026. Offers and terms can change, so check the checkout page and plan terms when purchasing.

Item Published amount What it applies to
Bluehost AI Store, Sell Online $15.99 per month after a 14-day trial on the product page. Bluehost’s product page advertisement; check the offer and term shown at purchase.
Bluehost Sell Online renewal $22.99 per month on a monthly term; $15.99 per month on a 12- or 24-month term. Renewal prices listed on Bluehost’s plans and pricing page. Renewal rates apply after the initial term, and prices can change.
WooCommerce core platform $0 platform fee; no revenue share. Core WooCommerce software, not the cost of operating a complete store.
WooCommerce hosting estimate $25–$350 per month for most stores. WooCommerce’s estimate, not a quote or a universal cost.
WooCommerce extensions estimate $29–$299 per year per extension. WooCommerce’s estimate; a store’s actual extensions and costs vary.

WooCommerce’s estimates for hosting and extensions are on its pricing page. Payment processing is additional. Do not compare a promotional bundle price directly with WooCommerce’s $0 core platform fee: one is a hosted plan and the other is software whose operating costs depend on the store’s choices.

Which option fits your store?

Choose Bluehost AI Store if you want a guided bundle

  • You prefer a bundled host and a more guided setup rather than assembling the WordPress stack yourself.
  • The documented theme and plugin administration limits do not conflict with features your store needs.
  • Stripe is an acceptable payment option for your business, subject to checking Bluehost’s current supported methods.
  • You have compared the trial, initial term, renewal price, and included features for the plan you intend to buy.

Choose standalone WooCommerce if you want more control

  • You want to select your own hosting provider, themes, plugins, and integrations.
  • You need custom plugins, theme changes, or a payment solution beyond the option documented for AI Store.
  • You are prepared to set up and maintain WordPress, WooCommerce, hosting, and the wider store stack.
  • You want to build a budget from hosting, payment processing, extensions, and any development needs rather than pay for a bundled plan.

What to check before committing

  1. List required features. Identify necessary plugins, theme changes, integrations, and payment methods. Verify they work with the option you are considering.
  2. Check the payment flow. If you need a provider other than Stripe, confirm current AI Store support with Bluehost before purchase. For standalone WooCommerce, verify the chosen provider’s compatibility and fees.
  3. Compare the full cost. For Bluehost, examine the trial, plan, billing term, and renewal amount. For standalone WooCommerce, add the host, processing, extensions, and expected development or maintenance costs.
  4. Decide who will manage the stack. AI Store offers Bluehost’s guided environment; standalone WooCommerce gives you more configuration choice and leaves more setup and upkeep to you.

For a current product comparison, see Bluehost’s AI Store vs. WooCommerce page; its feature claims are Bluehost’s own descriptions, not independent test results.
