Terraria 1.4.5 launched on January 27, 2026 for PC, console, and mobile, excluding the bespoke China Mobile edition. Desktop 1.4.5.4 added a Secret Seed menu that lets you toggle unlocked seeds instead of retyping every code.

What a Terraria secret seed does
A normal seed determines the random layout of a world. A secret seed adds a deliberately designed rule set to that generation process. Depending on the seed, the result may be a complete challenge preset, a reversed progression path, a special biome emphasis, altered structures, unusual visuals, or a narrow modifier such as extra traps.
Secret-seed text is not a conventional password. The Official Terraria Wiki explains that entered codes are processed through a non-reversible function (a cryptographic hash function), which lets the game recognize known effects without exposing a readable rule in the seed itself. Because the recognized list is tied to the game build, a code that works on one release may be ignored or behave differently on another.

You need Terraria on the platform where you intend to create the world. A secret seed affects the world at generation time; entering it does not retrofit an existing world.
How to enter a secret seed
- Open Terraria and choose the option to create a new world.
- In the world-creation screen, locate the World Seed field and enter the desired text or number exactly. Preserve capitalization, spaces, punctuation, and leading zeroes.
- Choose world size, difficulty, and evil biome as you normally would.
- Generate the world. The secret rules are applied during this generation process.
- On supported Desktop 1.4.5.4 or later builds, use the Secret Seed button or menu to toggle seeds you have unlocked. This is an alternative to manually retyping each code, not a way to alter a world after it has been created.
If you are testing several effects, create a disposable world first. Once a world has been generated, changing the seed field or toggles will not convert that world into a different secret-seed world.
Important secret seeds and what they change
The following are the major seed families players commonly mean by “secret seeds.” Names and aliases can be platform- or version-sensitive; copy the current spelling shown by your game or the Official Terraria Wiki.

Some entries above are broad presets; others are narrower modifiers. The current wiki list includes additional 1.4.5 modifiers affecting visuals, biomes, liquids, spawn behavior, traps, and structures. Rather than relying on an old community list, check the list associated with your game build for the exact code and description.
Choosing a seed by the kind of run you want
For a conventional world with a twist
Celebrationmk10 adds a themed presentation and loot behavior without requiring the radically hostile opening associated with the hardest challenge presets. Drunk World is a better choice when the map itself—not simply combat difficulty—is the attraction.
For maximum combat and progression pressure
For the Worthy changes hazards and progression in ways that can invalidate habits learned in a standard world. Get fixed boi is substantially more severe because it layers several special-world effects. Treat both as challenge modes, not as casual alternatives to a normal first playthrough.

No Traps emphasizes environmental danger, while Not the Bees pushes the world toward bee and jungle themes. These are useful when you want exploration decisions to matter more than simply increasing enemy statistics.
For a different opening route
Don’t Dig Up/Remix changes the expected surface-first flow. The Constant adds survival mechanics, so food, shelter, timing, and resource planning become more important alongside combat.
Can secret seeds be combined?
Yes. You can enter multiple valid codes where the game version supports combined entry, or toggle multiple unlocked entries in the newer Desktop menu. Combination behavior is not guaranteed to be additive: one effect can override another, two rules can conflict, or the resulting world can become dramatically harder than either seed alone.

Use combinations experimentally:
- Start with a throwaway world and note the exact game version and platform.
- Enable only the combination you intend to test.
- Generate the world and verify that the expected biome, progression, or survival changes are present.
- Keep a record of the order and spelling of every code. If the result is useful, share that information with the platform and version.
Do not promise that a combined seed will produce identical worlds across releases. World-generation changes, newly added aliases, and platform-specific implementations can alter the result even when the visible code is the same.

Terraria 1.4.5 reached PC, console, and mobile on January 27, 2026, except for the separate China Mobile edition. That broad release does not mean every secret-seed feature is identical everywhere. The Secret Seed toggle menu is specifically documented for Desktop 1.4.5.4 and later; other platforms may require manual entry or may receive the menu at a different time.
When a code fails on a console or phone, check the platform’s current version before assuming the seed is invalid. A seed introduced after your build, an alias available only on another platform, or a different handling of capitalization can all produce the same symptom: the game creates an apparently normal world.
Troubleshooting a seed that does not work
The world looks normal
- Check every character, including spaces and punctuation.
- Preserve capitalization where the entry is case-sensitive.
- Retype numeric seeds with leading zeroes;
05162021is not the same text as5162021. - Confirm that the seed is supported by your exact platform and game version.
- Generate a new test world. A previously generated world cannot be changed by correcting the seed field later.
The Secret Seed menu is missing
Verify that you are on Desktop 1.4.5.4 or a later build that includes the documented menu. If you are on console, mobile, or an earlier desktop patch, manual entry may be the expected interface. The menu also concerns unlocked entries; it does not guarantee that every newly documented modifier is available immediately.

Disable all but one seed and generate separate test worlds. If each seed works alone but the combination does not, the effects are conflicting or one rule is overriding another. Record the reproducible combination rather than treating an accidental result as a universal rule.
How to share a secret-seed world reliably
Include the complete seed text, the world size, difficulty, evil biome choice, platform, and exact Terraria version. Mention whether the seed was typed manually or selected through the Secret Seed menu. This information matters because generation changes and platform-specific aliases can prevent another player from seeing the same map or rules.
For a public challenge, share a fresh world created after the recipient confirms the same version. Do not use an old save as proof that a code works: the save may have been generated under different rules.
What changed with the 1.4.5 generation era
The January 27, 2026 1.4.5 release expanded the current generation context for secret seeds, and later hotfixes can affect parity. Desktop 1.4.5.4’s toggle menu also makes previously unlocked effects easier to combine. This is why older lists should be treated as historical references rather than authoritative code sheets. For an exact current code, use the entry displayed by your game build or the maintained Official Terraria Wiki list, then test it in a new world.
