Sync.com looks like the better fit if you want a high-capacity personal plan, extensive sharing controls, or longer listed recovery histories. Tresorit stands out if you need Linux support, encrypted link sharing, or business features such as data-residency choices. These are comparisons of vendor-published plans and support information—not hands-on performance tests or independent security audits.
How Sync.com and Tresorit differ
Both services describe their storage as end-to-end encrypted. That is each provider’s claim; the available material does not establish an independent security winner. For a practical choice, compare the exact plan limits and workflows you need rather than relying on a broad “secure cloud storage” label.

The available information does not support a fair, complete price comparison across both providers and all regions. Sync.com’s cited page advertises 50% off the first year on displayed plans, but its annual prices are shown as monthly equivalents and the plan renews at its regular price after the promotional year. Taxes may apply. Check the live checkout price for your country, billing term, and chosen tier, and compare the renewal amount—not just the introductory rate. Tresorit’s reviewed personal page provides plan capacities and features, but not a stable comparable price in the material available here.

Which is better for storage, devices, and recovery?
Choose Sync.com for higher listed personal capacity
Sync.com lists plans at 1 TB, 5 TB, and unlimited storage. Its unlimited plan is the only one of these personal offerings without a stated capacity ceiling, although the provider says upload speed management may apply above 10 TB of total account storage. Tresorit’s listed personal tiers top out at 4 TB. If you expect to store several terabytes, compare the plan’s renewal cost and conditions as well as its advertised capacity.
Rank #2
Choose Tresorit if you need Linux or more than five devices
Tresorit lists Linux among its supported platforms. Its Essential and Pro personal tiers list up to 10 devices, while Sync.com’s cited help page sets an account limit of five active computers or mobile devices. Check whether your own devices count toward the applicable limit before committing; limits can be tier-specific.
Compare recovery by plan, not by headline
Sync.com lists 90-, 180-, or 365-day histories depending on the personal tier. Tresorit’s version-history counts also vary by tier, so confirm the exact allowance on the plan you are considering. Version history and recovery of deleted files are not necessarily the same feature; verify how each provider handles both for your chosen plan before treating a listed history period as a complete recovery guarantee.
Rank #3
Which service has better sharing controls?
Sync.com’s listed controls can include read-only permissions, expiration dates, download limits, notifications, password protection, and granular permissions, with availability varying by tier. Tresorit offers encrypted link sharing and controls such as passwords, expiration, and download limits. Its cited comparison lists a maximum link-share size of 2 GB on personal tiers and up to 5 GB on the business comparison.
If you regularly send large files, compare the maximum share size on the exact plan as well as its access controls. A feature appearing on a provider’s general page does not mean it is available at every tier.
How do desktop sync and local files affect security?
Tresorit’s support documentation says synchronization is available only in desktop apps—not in Tresorit Drive, Web Access, or mobile apps—and that synced files on a computer are decrypted locally. The article was updated October 2, 2026. That means end-to-end encryption in the cloud does not remove the need to protect a computer that holds synchronized files. Tresorit’s synchronization setup guide explains the workflow.
Sync.com describes real-time backup and synchronization, as well as cloud-only Vault and files-on-demand features. The cited material does not provide a like-for-like technical evaluation of the two implementations, so do not assume that their local-file behavior is identical. Consider which files need to be available offline and how you secure the devices that access them.

Which one fits a business or team?
For a team, personal-plan storage is only part of the decision. Tresorit’s business comparison publishes user counts, per-user storage, upload limits, compliance labels, residency choices, and policy settings. Sync.com’s cited help page says HIPAA compliance and a signed business associate agreement (BAA) require specified paid plans; it also says custom branding requires specified paid plans.
Before procurement, verify the current contract and plan terms against your actual requirements:
- Required number of users, storage allocation, and maximum upload size.
- Data-residency locations and the precise scope of any compliance claim.
- Administrator controls and policies for sharing, access, and offboarding.
- Whether a required agreement, such as a BAA, is available on the specific plan.
A provider’s compliance statement alone does not establish that your organization’s deployment or processes meet a legal or regulatory obligation. Review the current Tresorit business plans and the relevant Sync.com plan terms with your compliance or procurement team.
Which should you choose?
- Pick Sync.com if you want one of its listed 1 TB, 5 TB, or unlimited personal plans, value its tier-specific sharing controls, or need a listed history period of up to 365 days.
- Pick Tresorit if Linux support, a higher listed personal device limit on some tiers, encrypted link sharing, or published business residency and policy options matter most.
- Compare both further if your decision depends on price, a specific compliance obligation, recovery guarantees, or local synchronization behavior. Confirm those details on the exact plan and in current terms before moving important files.
These recommendations reflect vendor-published plan features, not controlled speed tests, firsthand testing, or independent cryptographic reviews. No universal speed or security winner is established by those sources.
