To share a finished SurveyMonkey survey, open Publish survey, choose or create a collector, and share its link. Use a Web Link for broad distribution, an Email Invitation when you need recipient-level tracking, or the Web Link’s QR code for print and in-person access. For feedback on a draft rather than live responses, use the separate Share for Review flow.
Share a survey with a Web Link
- Finish editing the survey and preview it.
- Select the green Publish survey button, or open Publish survey in the survey header.
- Use the available Web Link, or select Add new collector + and then Share a link to create a Web Link collector.
- Copy the URL and share it through your own email, a supported social or messaging service, a website, or another appropriate channel.
- Review the collector settings and access implications before distributing it widely.
SurveyMonkey’s Web Link guidance says, “Web Links are Public Links.” Anyone with the URL can access the survey, and a link posted publicly may be found by search engines. You can adjust the link ending, domain, or subdomain if your account plan and configuration allow it. SurveyMonkey Help: Web Link collector

SurveyMonkey documents sharing icons for Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Microsoft Teams, and WhatsApp, though available options can vary with account configuration and product updates. The Thumbnail Image & Text collector option can customize how a link appears when pasted into social or messaging apps.

Other options, such as manual entry for offline responses, Kiosk surveys, a Mobile SDK, and Audience responses, suit more specific collection situations rather than routine link sharing. Available features and screens can depend on account configuration.

Share by email: a public link or tracked invitations
Send a Web Link from your email client
Copy the Web Link and paste it into a message from your usual email app. This is convenient if you already manage your own mailing list, but it does not tell you which individual recipient responded.
Use an Email Invitation collector
- Add or import contacts in the Email Invitation collector.
- Compose the invitation and review collector options, including privacy settings.
- Send the invitations or schedule them, then use the collector’s tracking and recipient views to check activity and response status.
Invitation Tracking can show opens and click-throughs, while the Recipients view reports response status. Each invitation link is unique to its recipient and is not intended to be forwarded. SurveyMonkey stores email and IP addresses in Email Invitation results by default; the collector can be set to anonymous responses to exclude this identifying information. That setting does not make a survey anonymous if it asks for identifying details or collects identifiers another way. SurveyMonkey Help: Email Invitations

Create and share a QR code
- Create or open a Web Link collector.
- Select Download QR Code under the survey link. If you do not see the control, check Link Settings.
- Share the downloaded QR image on the print or display material you plan to use.
A survey owner or user with Full Access can download the code. SurveyMonkey documents a maximum downloaded QR image size of 256 × 256 pixels. Collector settings apply to both the URL and its QR code. If you need to identify responses as coming from QR scans, distribute only the QR code for that collector—not its URL as well. SurveyMonkey Help: QR codes
Review privacy and access before distribution
- For a Web Link: treat the URL as public. Anyone who obtains it can access the survey; the link itself does not identify an individual recipient.
- For Email Invitations: decide whether the default storage of email and IP addresses fits your privacy approach. Enable anonymous responses in collector options if you want those details excluded from results.
- For either method: check whether the survey questions or other collection settings identify respondents independently of the sharing channel.
- For QR attribution: do not also circulate the same collector’s URL when you need to filter responses as QR-originated.
Share a preview for feedback instead of collecting responses
If collaborators should comment on the survey’s wording or design, open Preview & Score and create a review session with Share for Review. This is a separate preview-feedback process, not the live respondent collector. A review-session link remains active for 10 days, and external collaborators can have View Only access at most.
