That is a practical starting recommendation, not a universal ranking—choose based on how much novelty and strategic complexity you want, and check your platform’s current price before buying.
How the packs differ at a glance
Super Auto Pets has six static packs, plus two mini packs that serve a different purpose. The prices below are community-wiki listings rather than verified current storefront prices, so treat them as rough reference points, not a quote for your platform or region.
| Pack | Listed price | What the available comparison says |
|---|---|---|
| Turtle | Free | Baseline pack and simplest point on the guide’s subjective learning scale. |
| Puppy | $5 USD | Described by the buying guide as closest to Turtle; its suggested first expansion. |
| Star | $10 USD | Rated the most complex of the listed expansions, with many archetypes and involved abilities and synergies. |
| Golden | $10 USD | Described as progressing more like Turtle, with attack, positioning, and in-battle synergy emphasized. |
| Unicorn | $10 USD | Included in the pack list and learning-scale ranking; a confident signature-mechanic comparison is not established by the available guide excerpt. |
| Danger | $10 USD | Included in the pack list and learning-scale ranking; a confident signature-mechanic comparison is not established by the available guide excerpt. |
| Two mini packs | $5 USD each | Add pets for custom packs; they are not standalone packs to queue into a regular static-pack game. |
The listed prices come from a community-maintained wiki, not a verified current official store listing. Confirm the price shown in your game’s storefront for your platform and region before purchasing.
Which pack is easiest to learn?
A cited buying guide gives a rough, subjective complexity scale: Turtle 1, Puppy 2, Danger and Golden 3, Unicorn 4, and Star 5. It bases the ratings on how familiar the archetypes are, how complicated abilities are, and how much synergy planning they demand. These are editorial estimates, not results from a measured player study.
#1 Best Overall
- Introduces an exciting new mechanic where trumpets power special abilities and summon a Golden Retriever in battle when your team is defeated, adding strategic depth.
- Expand your gameplay with a fresh roster of pets and creative food cards that unlock new synergies, combos, and unpredictable auto battle outcomes every match.
- Fully playable as a two-player game right out of the box, or combine with other Super Auto Pets packs to create expanded, chaotic, and highly replayable battles.
- Combine multiple packs to scale gameplay for 4 or 6 players, making it a flexible option for group game nights, parties, or competitive tabletop sessions.
- Enjoy quick rounds with easy-to-learn mechanics, where team building, positioning, and clever use of resources determine victory in dynamic auto-resolving battles.
Choose Puppy for a familiar first step
If you already know Turtle and want a new roster without changing the feel too sharply, Puppy is the most defensible first expansion. The guide calls it the closest expansion to Turtle and says it costs half as much as the other main expansions; check the live local price because its price listing is not a current storefront quote.
Choose Star if you want a steeper learning curve
The same guide rates Star as the most complex expansion in its comparison, pointing to its range of archetypes and complicated abilities and synergies. It is a better fit if learning interactions and planning around them is part of the appeal than if you want the smoothest transition from Turtle.
Rank #2
- Harness the power of mana to activate powerful abilities and create game-changing moments, adding a fresh strategic layer to every auto battle encounter.
- Discover a magical lineup of creatures and enchanted items that unlock new synergies, combos, and creative strategies for endless replayability.
- Play as a complete two-player game right out of the box or mix with Classic and Golden Packs to expand gameplay and increase variety.
- Combine multiple packs to allow 4 or 6 players to join the action, making it perfect for group game nights, parties, and competitive tabletop sessions.
- Easy-to-learn mechanics paired with deep tactical choices make this auto battler ideal for both casual players and experienced strategy enthusiasts.
Consider Golden for a more familiar progression
The guide describes Golden games as often progressing more like Turtle, while putting greater emphasis on attack, positioning, and synergy during battles. Its account is incomplete, so treat that as a broad orientation rather than a full current breakdown of Golden’s mechanics.
What is known about Danger and Unicorn
The guide places Danger at complexity 3 and Unicorn at 4 on its subjective scale, but the available detail does not establish their signature mechanics well enough for a reliable playstyle comparison. If a specific pet or ability is what interests you, check current in-game information before choosing based on that detail.

Pick for the way you want to play
- Want the least jarring expansion from Turtle? Start by considering Puppy; the recommendation comes from a buying guide and depends on your preferences.
- Want more demanding synergy and planning? Star is the guide’s highest-complexity option.
- Want a Turtle-like overall progression with more focus on attack and positioning? Golden is a candidate, with the caveat that the available description is limited.
- Want to build your own roster? Consider whether you will play custom mode: pack pets generally become available for custom-pack construction when you own their pack.
- Want to play weekly mode? Weekly packs change each week and draw pets from packs, so you do not need to choose a static pack solely to access the weekly format. Check a particular pet’s current availability if it matters to your plan.
Static packs, custom packs, and weekly play
Buying a static pack is not the only way to play Super Auto Pets. Static-pack games generally use the same static pack for players unless the all-packs option is enabled. Custom and weekly modes match players within their respective modes, so the mode you expect to play can matter as much as which roster looks interesting.
Owned-pack pets can generally be used when creating custom packs; for example, the custom-pack guide says you need to own Golden Pack to use a Golden pet in a custom build. The overview also says pets from all packs can be used in weekly packs. Specific rules and exceptions may change, so verify the availability of an individual pet in the game before relying on it.

- Pay the cost in Help cards to flip your sad Animal cards to their happy sides, preparing them to meet the requirements of a Location card.
- Claim Location cards by assigning Happy Animals to their new homes, earning Victory Points and potential bonus cards for added strategy.
- End the game with a combination of 10 Happy Animals and Location cards, tallying up Victory Points to determine the winner in this charming and strategic card game.
What to check before you buy
- Choose the mode first. Decide whether you want a static-pack game, custom pack building, or weekly play. Mini packs are custom additions, not standalone static packs.
- Set your desired learning curve. Use the guide’s scale as a subjective orientation: Puppy is rated 2, Golden and Danger 3, Unicorn 4, and Star 5, with Turtle at 1.
- Check the current local storefront price. The prices in pack lists are community-wiki figures and may not match the current price on your platform or in your region.
- Verify a specific pet or ability in-game. Rosters and access rules can change, and the available guide does not supply a complete, current signature-mechanic comparison for every pack.
