Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

The choice usually turns on three checks, in this order: whether Stripe will onboard your business at all, whether the payment methods your customers use are supported on your account, and whether each provider’s Flutter route fits your build. Stripe’s India access is invite-only and its India documentation excludes local payment methods, so it is the first gate to test. Razorpay and Cashfree both document Flutter integration paths, which leaves methods, pricing and operational terms to settle with each provider.
Check Stripe access before anything else
Stripe’s India FAQ says businesses must request an invitation and cannot sign up for a new Indian account through the website. It also says the India service is focused on businesses with international expansion plans. If you have not been invited, Stripe is not a practical option for this project, however well its tooling fits your stack.

- Your legal entity type appears in the page’s list of supported entity types and is not one of the excluded entities it names.
- Your customers pay with Visa, Mastercard (including Maestro) or American Express, which the page lists as supported subject to restrictions.
- You do not depend on local payment methods, or on Google Pay and Apple Pay in Stripe Checkout or Elements, because the page states that local payment methods are unsupported and that Google Pay and Apple Pay are unavailable for merchants and customers in India.
These restrictions describe Stripe accounts for India. They say nothing about Stripe accounts in other countries.

Compare payment method coverage
In the table below, “Not stated” means the provider documentation reviewed for this article does not address that point. It does not mean the feature is unavailable, so ask the provider to confirm it for your account.
| Requirement | Stripe (India accounts) | Razorpay | Cashfree |
|---|---|---|---|
| Card networks | Visa, Mastercard (including Maestro) and American Express, subject to restrictions (India support page) | Not stated in the Flutter documentation reviewed | Not stated in the integration overview reviewed |
| Local payment methods, including UPI | Stated as unsupported on the India support page | UPI Collect is covered in the Flutter custom payment-method documentation; its status is explained below | Not stated in the integration overview reviewed |
| Google Pay and Apple Pay on Checkout and Elements | Stated as unavailable for India merchants and customers (India support page) | Not stated in the Flutter documentation reviewed | Not stated in the integration overview reviewed |
| Flutter integration route | Not established in the sources reviewed; confirm in Stripe’s current mobile documentation | Official razorpay_flutter wrapper around native Android and iOS SDKs | Flutter listed among app checkout integrations |
UPI Collect: a dated change to verify
Razorpay’s Flutter custom payment-method documentation contains this sentence: “According to NPCI guidelines, the UPI Collect flow is being deprecated effective 28 February 2026.” The sentence names NPCI as the source of the guideline and does not identify an individual speaker. That date is now past, so do not assume the flow works as the page originally described it. Ask Razorpay which UPI flows it currently supports for your account, and check the current NPCI guidance it refers to before designing the payment screen.
Flutter integration paths
Razorpay
Razorpay publishes razorpay_flutter, a Flutter wrapper around its Android and iOS SDKs. The repository gives installation guidance and the Android and iOS platform requirements. Package versions and minimum platform versions change, so take them from the live repository and package registry on the day you start.

Cashfree
Cashfree’s official integration overview lists Flutter among its app checkout integrations, next to other integration types. Teams can compare those routes against their requirements before choosing one. This article does not give Cashfree’s current Flutter package version, minimum platform versions or server verification flow, so take those details from Cashfree’s Flutter integration guide.
Stripe
We did not confirm a Flutter integration path for Stripe India accounts. Check Stripe’s current mobile documentation and confirm that your account type can use it before you plan the build.

Stripe
Stripe’s India pricing page, as accessed in 2026, lists 2% for cards issued in India and 3% for cards issued outside India on its standard page. It states that standard pricing has no setup or monthly fees, and it lists further distinctions by payment method and transaction type. These are published standard rates for Stripe India accounts; the merchant agreement governs what you actually pay.
Cashfree
Cashfree’s Payment Gateway Charges page, as accessed in 2026, shows a 1.95% platform fee for the payment modes it lists. The same page describes a new-merchant offer, which is time-limited, depends on eligibility, requires activation and KYC, and has a cumulative transaction threshold. Treat that offer as a promotion rather than the standard rate, and confirm with Cashfree how GST applies to the fee.
Razorpay
This article did not establish a published Razorpay rate to compare. Request your merchant rate card in writing.
Why the headline figures do not compare directly
Stripe’s 2% depends on where the card was issued, while Cashfree’s 1.95% depends on the listed payment modes. Neither figure tells you refund charges, tax treatment or negotiated terms for your account. Build a cost model from your expected method mix, average transaction value and refund rate, then compare the totals.
Operational terms this comparison cannot settle
No comparable, published figure for settlement timing, refund charges, support quality or authorisation success rates is available across all three providers. These depend on your merchant agreement and on your customers, so get them in writing from each provider and measure success rates yourself.
Ask each provider for:
- Its settlement schedule for your payment methods.
- Its refund fee schedule, including partial refunds.
- Its support hours and escalation path for payment failures.
Then run these checks on both Android and iOS with each shortlisted provider, using test mode where it is offered or small live transactions where it is not:
- A successful payment for every method you need, recording both the app’s success callback and the confirmation your server receives.
- A failed payment and an abandoned checkout, confirming that no order is fulfilled.
- A full refund and a partial refund, with the refund status reaching your server.
- An app that is closed or offline before the callback arrives, with your server still reconciling the payment correctly.
How to decide
- Confirm Stripe access. If you have no invitation, or your entity type is excluded, remove Stripe from the shortlist.
- List the payment methods your customers must use, marking each as required or optional. Include UPI, the card networks you need and any wallets.
- Remove any provider that does not confirm in writing that it supports a required method on your account.
- Check the Flutter route for each remaining provider, including the package, its platform requirements and the server flow. For Razorpay, confirm the UPI Collect status first.
- Build a cost model from your method mix and the merchant-specific terms, and keep promotional rates out of the baseline.
- Test the two strongest candidates on Android and iOS, using the checks above, before you sign anything.
Working through these steps in order will narrow the field quickly. The final choice rests on your provider’s written terms and your own test results.
