How Restream handles a looping prerecorded event
Restream’s Upload & Stream feature lets you schedule a recorded video as a livestream. In its prerecorded-event workflow, you upload or select a video, enter event details, set the loop count, choose destinations, and create the event. It starts automatically at the scheduled time. YouTube is among the supported destinations for creating an event post in advance. See Restream’s scheduling instructions.

Loop and runtime limits
Restream’s help page dated March 11, 2026 says a file can loop up to 10 times and the resulting stream can run for up to 40 hours. The repeats air as one event, not a series of separately scheduled events. The same page says playlists do not currently support the native loop control. Restream suggests duplicating videos in a playlist, up to 40 entries, as a workaround; that is a sequence of entries, not the native loop feature. Consult Restream’s loop-limit documentation when planning an event.
Plan and source options
Restream identifies looping as a paid feature available with its Marathon and Media add-on plans. Video streaming is available to all Restream users, but that does not mean the loop control is included in every plan. Storage and video-size limits vary by add-on tier. Upload & Stream supports single videos and playlists, with uploads from desktop or mobile and imports through Descript, Google Drive, and Dropbox. Chat is available during the event. What StreamYard can and cannot loop
Scheduled prerecorded broadcasts play once
StreamYard lets you upload a local video or choose a previous StreamYard broadcast or recording, select destinations, and schedule a date and time. The broadcast starts automatically, but its help page says it ends when the selected video finishes. The page also says scheduling can be as far as 365 days ahead; treat that as a vendor-stated limit and check the current help page before relying on it. The studio clip loop is a different control
During an active StreamYard studio broadcast, a video clip in the media assets tab can be set to loop indefinitely until someone manually stops it. That can repeat a holding card, intro, or other clip during a staffed production. It does not show that a scheduled prerecorded broadcast will restart or repeat by itself. Format and production limits for prerecorded video
StreamYard’s prerecorded-stream help page lists MP4 with H.264 video, a maximum upload bitrate of 10 Mbps, and up to 1080p on paid plans. It lists maximum video durations of two hours on Core, four hours on Advanced, and eight hours on Teams/Business. The page also describes plan-dependent limits on how many broadcasts can be scheduled concurrently. Prerecorded broadcasts do not run through the studio: comments cannot be shown on-stream, and overlays or media assets cannot be controlled as they can in a standard live broadcast. These limits and plan names can change, so confirm the current details with StreamYard’s help page.

Choose Restream for a finite unattended replay
If your requirement is to schedule one prerecorded YouTube event and have the video repeat while you are away, Restream is the stronger documented choice. Its native loop has a clear ceiling—10 plays and 40 hours total—and requires a paid Marathon or Media add-on plan. It is not an unlimited 24/7 loop.

Choose StreamYard for a one-pass scheduled video or staffed studio

Prepare the YouTube event and check your rights
Confirm channel eligibility
YouTube’s general live-stream setup guidance says your channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. This is a YouTube eligibility rule, not a special requirement from Restream or StreamYard. Check YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance before scheduling.
Use content you have the right to stream
YouTube’s livestream terms require creators to follow Community Guidelines and represent that they have the necessary rights for the stream, including applicable music rights. A platform’s ability to loop a file does not provide those rights. YouTube’s monetization policy also says monetized content should be original and authentic; generic, mass-produced, or repetitive content may be ineligible, and the policy applies to livestreams. Looping does not guarantee monetization or policy compliance. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and YouTube’s monetization policies.

Troubleshooting a scheduled loop
- The event plays once and stops: In StreamYard, that is the documented behavior for a scheduled prerecorded broadcast. For Restream, check that the event was created with a loop count and that your plan includes the paid looping feature.
- The event is longer than expected or will not accept the loop count: Check the source video duration and Restream’s limits of up to 10 plays and 40 hours total. The total runtime cannot exceed the documented ceiling.
- A playlist will not repeat: Restream’s native loop control does not apply to playlists. Duplicating entries up to 40 items is the documented workaround, but it is not equivalent to native looping.
- A StreamYard clip stops repeating: The studio clip loop runs while the clip is placed in an active broadcast and stops when manually stopped. It is not an unattended scheduled-event loop.
- The YouTube event cannot go live: Check channel verification and any live-stream restriction within the preceding 90 days, then review the event destination and schedule in the streaming service.
- A stream is claimed, restricted, or unsuitable for monetization: Review the rights for all footage and music and YouTube’s policies; neither looping nor scheduling overrides platform rules.
