First decide what “single-page” means: one continuous, very tall PDF page, or the entire webpage squeezed onto one ordinary sheet. They are different outputs. A browser’s print-to-PDF workflow is the simplest starting point; Acrobat also documents web-page conversion with layout controls. The cited Acrobat instructions do not establish a guaranteed way to fit an arbitrarily long page legibly onto one standard sheet or to capture it as one continuous tall page.
Choose the kind of single page you need

Acrobat’s “Scale Wide Contents to fit page” setting addresses content that is too wide; it is not documented as a control that compresses the entire height of a long webpage onto one sheet. Adobe’s web-page conversion settings and desktop conversion instructions describe page layout and capture options, but do not promise either full-height scaling onto a standard sheet or a continuous tall page.

Save a webpage as a PDF from the browser
- Open the webpage and let its main content load. If the page has expandable sections or content that appears only as you scroll, inspect it before saving; a print preview can reveal omissions.
- Open the browser’s print dialog and choose a PDF destination or save-as-PDF option. The exact menu names and availability vary by browser and operating system.
- Inspect the preview. Check page count, orientation, margins, cut-off content, images, and any headers or footers. If the preview offers a scale or fit control, confirm what it changes rather than assuming it will put a long page on one sheet.
- Save the PDF when the preview matches your goal. If the result is too small to read or content is missing, use a multi-page layout or try Acrobat’s web-page conversion controls.
Browser-specific menu paths are not established by the cited sources, so treat the print dialog’s labels as browser-dependent rather than universal.

Acrobat desktop can create a PDF from a webpage URL or an HTML file. Its documented workflow also supports capturing multiple levels of a website with limits, while the browser extension can convert an open page. Adobe says desktop Acrobat offers more control for whole-site capture and adding pages to existing PDFs. See Adobe’s desktop conversion guide for the current interface.

- In Acrobat desktop, choose Create, then select Web page.
- Enter the webpage URL, or select an HTML file. If you need more than the current page, configure multiple-level capture and its limits.
- Open the conversion settings and choose the desired page size, orientation, and margins. Consider whether to include images, backgrounds, scrollable blocks, and headers or footers.
- If the page is wider than the selected paper, enable Scale Wide Contents to fit page as needed. This setting is for width; it does not guarantee that a long page’s full height will fit on one sheet.
- Choose Create, then inspect the resulting PDF before relying on it.

Check the PDF before sharing or printing
- Clipped text or images: compare the preview and output with the webpage. Adjust margins, orientation, or page size, or use multiple pages rather than forcing a narrow sheet.
- Missing content inside a scrollable area: check whether the conversion settings include scrollable blocks. Expand important sections on the webpage and review the output.
- Tiny text: if fitting everything to one ordinary sheet makes it hard to read, switch to a multi-page PDF. That is usually the practical choice when the whole article must remain legible.
- Unexpected headers or footers: review the conversion settings and disable them if they are not wanted.
- More pages than expected: distinguish a multi-level website capture from converting one page. Check the capture depth and limits if you selected multiple-level capture.
Resize an existing PDF only when the source is already a PDF
Acrobat’s print options for an existing PDF include Fit (to the printable area), Actual size, Shrink oversized pages, and Custom Scale. These affect how PDF pages are sized for printing; they do not turn a webpage into a single tall PDF page. See Adobe’s PDF print-sizing guide.
