To block one number on Tracfone, text BLOCK to 611611 and follow the instructions returned for your phone. To unblock it, text UNBLOCK. For handset controls, use the steps for your phone’s operating system and dialer: Android menus vary, while iPhone has its own blocking and call-screening options.
How do I block or unblock a phone number on Tracfone?
Tracfone’s 611611 help page lists BLOCK and UNBLOCK as keywords for receiving instructions. Text the relevant keyword to 611611, then follow the directions for your model. The page does not provide one universal sequence for every handset.

Phone by Google
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap More, then Call history.
- Tap the call from the number you want to stop.
- Tap Block / report spam.
This is Google’s documented route for Phone by Google, not a universal Tracfone menu path. Some steps require Android 6.0 or later, and a Tracfone handset may use a different manufacturer’s dialer. See Google’s Phone app instructions if the labels on your phone differ.

How can I screen unknown or suspected-spam calls on Android?
In Phone by Google, caller ID and spam protection can identify some business callers or flag suspected spam. You can also enable Filter spam calls where that option is available. Filtered calls do not produce missed-call or voicemail notifications, but remain in call history; you can still check voicemail. Some phones with automatic Call Screen may not show the same filter setting, and features vary by device.

Google says that when caller ID and spam protection is active, numbers outside your contacts may be sent to Google to help identify business callers or determine whether a call is spam. Review Google’s current disclosure and your phone’s settings if this data handling matters to you. These settings can also increase the chance of missing a legitimate call, so check call history when expecting calls from numbers you do not know.

How do I block and screen calls on an iPhone?
Apple’s iPhone guide explains how to block a specific contact from the Phone app’s Contacts list using Block Contact. The guide also describes controls for unknown callers: iPhone can ask why someone is calling before ringing, or silence unsaved callers and send them to voicemail. Apple’s current instructions are at Screen and block calls on iPhone.
Separate filters can move calls from unknown callers out of Recents and into a separate list. Calls identified by a carrier as potential spam or fraud can be silenced, sent to voicemail, and moved to Spam. Labels and available settings depend on the iOS version and Phone app layout. Screening or silencing unsaved callers can also divert wanted calls from people whose numbers you have not saved.

What is the difference between blocking, spam filtering, and Do Not Call?
| Option | What it does | Where it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Block a number | Stops calls from a specific number through a phone or dialer setting. | On the handset; steps depend on the operating system and dialer. |
| Unknown-caller controls | May screen, silence, or route certain calls to voicemail; the definition of “unknown” depends on the phone. | On supported Android or iPhone settings. |
| Spam filtering or labeling | Filters or identifies suspected spam. A label alone warns you but does not necessarily stop the phone from ringing. | Phone settings, service providers, or apps, depending on availability. |
| National Do Not Call Registry | Registers a number as a telemarketing opt-out; it does not block calls. | Covered telemarketers, subject to the Registry’s limits. |
Tracfone’s DNC keyword provides instructions for stopping unwanted calls; it is distinct from handset call blocking. The Federal Trade Commission explains that the National Do Not Call Registry tells registered telemarketers which numbers not to call, but does not silence calls through your phone. It also does not stop every illegal or exempt caller. For practical call-blocking and labeling approaches, see the FTC’s guide to blocking unwanted calls.

What should I do about persistent unwanted calls?
First use the handset controls that fit the problem: block a repeat caller, screen or filter suspected spam, or silence unknown callers if you accept the risk of diverting legitimate calls. For telemarketing opt-out instructions from Tracfone, text DNC to 611611 and follow the response. Registry enrollment is not a substitute for those phone settings.

You can also report unwanted calls to the FCC. The FCC says complaints provide information for policy work and potential enforcement; it does not resolve individual complaints. Treat an FCC unwanted-call complaint as reporting, not as a fast way to block a caller.
