The SteelSeries Arctis 3 microphone connects to a PC through its 3.5 mm analog cable. Choose the right connection for your PC
Check the computer’s ports before plugging in the Arctis 3. A single port marked with a headset icon is generally a combined headphone-and-microphone jack. Computers with separate ports typically mark headphone output in green and microphone input in pink or red.

- Identify the PC’s jack arrangement. Use the single combined headset jack if available. If headphone and microphone connections are separate, get a dual 3.5 mm headset splitter designed to carry both signals.
- Connect the cable fully. Seat the 3.5 mm plug in the PC jack or splitter, and connect the splitter’s headphone and mic plugs to their matching ports.
- Check the headset’s inline mute control. Make sure the microphone is not muted.
- Select the recording input in your PC or app. Choose the microphone input associated with the connected headset, then test it in the app you plan to use. Menu names and paths can vary by Windows version and application, so use that software’s current audio-input controls rather than relying on one universal menu path.
If the microphone is not detected, first confirm that the plug is fully seated, the inline control is unmuted, and the splitter has a microphone connection. Then check that the PC or app is listening to the correct recording input.

What SteelSeries Engine and Sonar can do
The Arctis 3 is an analog headset, not a USB device that appears as an Engine-configurable headset. SteelSeries says Engine does not support 3.5 mm devices and specifically lists all Arctis 3 models.
