Android Authority reported on October 7, 2026 that the SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 was selling for $156.74 at Amazon, down from a stated $219.99. The offer was described as time-limited, and the report does not say which time zone “midnight” refers to. Any midnight after that report has now passed, so the offer as described is very likely over. Retailers do re-list or re-price products, which is why the live Amazon listing, not the headline, should decide whether to buy.
What the October 7 deal report actually says
The report is the only source for the price, discount, and deadline. Its figures are dated and were not verified as current in this article. The table below separates what the report states from what it does not establish.

| Discount | 29% | Calculated against the stated reference price. |
| Savings | $63 | Rounded from $63.25 against the stated reference price. |

| Deadline | “Until midnight” | Headline wording only. No time zone is given. |
The report is by Matt Horne, and the original piece is at Android Authority’s Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 deal report. Its headline also calls the keyboard “top-rated.” This article did not verify any rating or review score, so treat that word as the publication’s description rather than an established fact.

Use the listing itself rather than an older article. Work through these checks in order:
#1 Best Overall

- OMNIPOINT 3.0 — More than just fast, our newly redesigned Hall Effect Switch have 20x faster actuation and 11x quicker response time, with 40 levels of adjustable actuation
- GAME-READY PRESETS — Gain a competitive edge in your favorite game with just a few clicks using GG QuickSet's game-ready keyboard settings
- REDUCED LATENCY — Rapid Trigger and Rapid Tap register keypresses faster for more responsive game play and improved aim.
- PROTECTION MODE — A SteelSeries exclusive feature — protect your keypresses by reducing the sensitivity of surrounding keys when the intended key is pressed, preventing accidental inputs
- Open the Amazon listing for the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 and confirm it is the wired model. The manufacturer’s wired mini configuration is the one this article covers.
- Compare the price on the listing with $156.74 and note the date and time you checked. Prices can change between the report and your visit.
- Look for any deal badge or countdown on the listing. If there is one, its end time is the only deadline that matters, and it may be shown in your local time zone.
- If you do not have Prime, check whether the price is still shown for your account. The report says Prime was required for the reported price.
- Check stock and the shipping destination before you assume the price applies to you. The report does not describe stock levels or regional availability.
If the listing shows a price above the reported figure with no active deal, the October 7 report should not be used as a reference for what you will pay.
What kind of keyboard this is
SteelSeries describes the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 as a 60% wired gaming keyboard. Its product page uses the Australian storefront path, so check the regional listing for your own market. The specifications on that page are the manufacturer’s.
Rank #2
- FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE & STUPIDLY FAST with OmniPoint 2.0 Adjustable HyperMagnetic switches
- RAPID TRIGGER — Eradicate latency arising from the physical movement of the switch through dynamic activation and deactivation of keys based on travel distance rather than a fixed point in the key travel.
- ULTIMATE CONTROL — 40 levels of per-key actuation (0.1 – 4.0mm) – set WASD for light, ultra-fast movements and set ability keys to deep presses to avoid accidentally triggering specials
- 2-IN-1 ACTION KEYS — Program two different actions to the same key, such as walking with a light touch or sprinting with a deep press
- 20x faster actuation, 11x faster response than traditional mechanical keyboards
A 60% layout keeps the main letter, number, and modifier area in a compact footprint. The trade-off is that dedicated navigation keys, the function row, and a number pad are not in their usual places. Many of those functions are reached through secondary key mappings, and the exact mappings for this model should be confirmed in SteelSeries’ product documentation before purchase. Readers who depend on a dedicated arrow cluster, function keys, or numeric input should weigh this layout carefully.

The keyboard uses what SteelSeries calls OmniPoint 3.0 Hall Effect switches. In SteelSeries’ own words, the switch is “the most technically advanced” in its lineup, with Rapid Trigger and a full adjustability range from 0.1 mm to 4.0 mm. That sentence is promotional copy from the manufacturer, not independent comparative testing.

Adjustable actuation (0.1 mm to 4.0 mm)
SteelSeries states that actuation distance can be set anywhere from 0.1 mm to 4.0 mm. This is a manufacturer specification. It describes the adjustment range, not how any particular setting feels in play or in typing.
Rapid Trigger and Rapid Tap
SteelSeries lists Rapid Trigger as part of the switch’s capabilities and lists Rapid Tap among the keyboard’s features. Both are described on the manufacturer’s product page. Those descriptions are the reference for how the features are meant to work. This article has not independently measured whether either one improves input speed or accuracy for any player, so do not read a listed feature as a performance guarantee.

Protection Mode
Protection Mode is listed among the manufacturer’s features. Its purpose is described on the product page. Read that description directly before relying on it for a specific use case.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsGG QuickSet and software setup
The keyboard is configured through SteelSeries GG, and the product page lists GG QuickSet as a feature. The page advertises Windows 10 and later. Compatibility for other operating systems, and for your own setup, should be confirmed on the live product documentation. SteelSeries Support lists a product information guide and user manual for the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3, available in its support guide listing. The manual is the place to confirm setup steps and key mappings.

Lighting, keycaps, and cable
- Per-key RGB: The manufacturer lists per-key RGB lighting and states 16.8 million color options. That figure is SteelSeries’ own specification.
- Double-shot PBT keycaps: Listed by the manufacturer. Double-shot construction means the legends are molded into the keycap rather than printed on it, which is the manufacturer’s description of the feature.
- Detachable USB-C braided cable: Listed by the manufacturer as detachable. The product page’s durability language about the keyboard and cable is the manufacturer’s claim. No tested lifespan has been established here.
Who this keyboard suits, and who should look elsewhere
- A good fit if you want a wired keyboard that saves desk space and you are comfortable with the 60% layout’s missing keys.
- A good fit if you want adjustable Hall Effect actuation and are willing to learn the SteelSeries GG software to set it.
- A poor fit if you rely on a dedicated arrow cluster, a function row, or a number pad for daily work.
- A poor fit if you need wireless use, since the configuration covered here is wired.
- Worth comparing against other keyboards at their going price if the Amazon listing no longer shows a deal, because the reported discount is no longer a reliable reference.
What is not established
No independent testing of typing feel, input latency, reliability, or competitive performance is established in the sources behind this article. No independent layout review was found either. Every performance and durability claim here is the manufacturer’s, and every price figure is the October 7, 2026 report’s, not a live check.
The product page’s specifications are a reliable starting point for what the keyboard is designed to do. Whether it does those things well for your hands and your games is something only hands-on use can settle.
The Bottom Line
The $156.74 figure is a dated, time-limited report from October 7, 2026, and its deadline has very likely passed. Buy only if the live Amazon listing shows a current price you accept, with Prime if the listing requires it. If it does, the Apex Pro Mini Gen 3 suits buyers who want a compact wired keyboard with adjustable Hall Effect switches and can live without a dedicated navigation cluster and number pad.
