Is Aeon Pro compatible with Xbox?
It is compatible with Xbox, but Xbox wireless operation is tied to the base station. Connect the base station to an Xbox USB-A port, then use the controller through that station. Bluetooth is not the Xbox connection described by SteelSeries, so pairing the controller directly to a phone-like Bluetooth menu does not replace the Xbox base station.

Can you use Aeon Pro on a PC without the base station?
Yes. SteelSeries documents two base-station-free PC methods: Bluetooth and a wired USB-C-to-USB-A cable. Bluetooth is useful when you want a cable-free connection and your computer has Bluetooth. The cable is the fallback when you want a direct link or your PC has no suitable Bluetooth adapter.
Bluetooth on Windows or another PC
- Open the computer’s Bluetooth settings and start adding a new device.
- Put the controller into Bluetooth pairing mode using its pairing control; use the current Aeon Pro manual for the exact button action if the controller is not discoverable.
- Select Aeon Pro in the device list and wait for the operating system to confirm the connection.
- Open SteelSeries GG when you need to configure the controller, update settings or manage profiles; the product page identifies GG as the PC configuration software.
Bluetooth avoids the base station, but it is a separate connection path from the station’s wireless link. If you move between a PC and Xbox, keep the base station connected for the console rather than assuming the Xbox can use the Bluetooth pairing stored on the PC.
Wired PC operation
- Connect the controller to the PC with a USB-C-to-USB-A cable.
- Allow the operating system to recognize the wired controller.

Yes. Mobile support is Bluetooth, with the phone or tablet paired directly to the controller. Open the mobile device’s Bluetooth settings, place Aeon Pro in pairing mode using the controller’s pairing control, and choose Aeon Pro from the discovered-device list. Bluetooth is also the connection mode for which SteelSeries gives the highest single-charge estimate: 14 hours. That figure is a current SteelSeries support estimate, not an independent test, and actual runtime changes with use and settings.
How long does the Aeon Pro battery last?
SteelSeries publishes different estimates because the radio link and controller configuration affect power use. The figures below are the company’s current support guidance, accessed October 20, 2026; they are not independent laboratory measurements.

Why is the PC figure lower?
SteelSeries links the 11.5-hour PC estimate to a 1000 Hz polling rate. Console use, or a headset connected to the controller, locks polling to 250 Hz and saves battery, which is why those scenarios have the 12.5-hour estimate instead. The 14-hour Bluetooth figure applies to that connection mode rather than to every PC setup.

How does the dual-battery system provide continuous play?
Aeon Pro uses interchangeable batteries rather than requiring the controller to remain docked for every recharge. The dock charges a spare battery while the controller is in use. When the installed battery is low, replace it with the charged one and put the depleted pack in the dock. SteelSeries describes this as extending battery life “endlessly” through the dual-battery system; that means continuous operation when you have a charged spare and perform the swap, not an unlimited runtime from one battery.
Battery-swap routine
- Keep one battery installed in the controller and one charging in the dock.
- When the controller reports a low level, pause at a safe point and exchange the packs.
- Place the depleted battery in the dock so it is ready for the next exchange.
- Use the base station’s OLED battery indication to check charge levels before starting a long session.
The system is particularly useful for long Xbox or PC sessions, because the controller does not need to stay physically attached to a charging cable while the spare is replenished.
Can an Arctis Nova Pro battery be used in Aeon Pro?
Yes. SteelSeries states that Aeon Pro batteries are compatible with batteries for Arctis Nova Pro, Arctis Nova Pro Omni and Arctis Nova Elite. That shared format can be useful if you already keep a charged Nova-series spare. Confirm that a replacement is one of those named compatible battery types; do not assume that every SteelSeries headset battery fits.
Will Aeon Pro work through a USB hub or dock?
It may, but SteelSeries does not guarantee every hub or dock. Its stability guidance is to connect the base station directly to a USB-A port on the Xbox or PC. A direct port removes an extra power and data layer that can introduce intermittent detection or wireless issues.

If a hub connection is unreliable
- Move the base station to a USB-A port on the computer or Xbox itself.
- Reconnect the station and wait for the OLED display and operating system to recognize it.
- Try another direct USB-A port if the first one does not provide a stable connection.
- Use a direct USB-C-to-USB-A cable on PC to determine whether the controller itself works independently of the station.
If direct connection works but the hub does not, the hub is the variable to remove; SteelSeries’ recommendation is not a promise that a particular dock supplies compatible power or data behavior.
What does the base station do besides wireless audio or control?
The base station is the central charging and control point for Aeon Pro. It connects to devices, charges the spare battery and stores interchangeable sticks. Its OLED screen provides on-device access to device switching, profile selection, button remapping and battery-level information. That makes the station useful even when you are not changing platforms.
For a multi-device desk, leave the station connected to the devices you use most and use its device-switching controls rather than repeatedly pairing the controller. Xbox still depends on the station for wireless operation; PC and mobile retain their Bluetooth or wired alternatives.

Connection support is only part of the choice. SteelSeries lists 18 mechanical switches, Hall Effect thumbsticks, Hall Effect triggers with selectable full-travel or hair-trigger travel, four rear paddles and interchangeable concave, convex, standard and long thumbstick caps. On PC, SteelSeries GG handles configuration and profiles. These controls matter if you plan to move the controller between competitive PC play, console sessions and mobile games, because the same hardware can be configured for different layouts.

Troubleshooting by symptom
Xbox does not recognize the controller wirelessly
Check that the base station is connected directly to the Xbox USB-A port. Xbox wireless use requires that station; switching to Bluetooth will not solve an Xbox connection problem.
The PC has no Bluetooth connection
Use the base station or connect the controller directly with a USB-C-to-USB-A cable. Both are documented PC alternatives to Bluetooth.
The controller disconnects when attached through a dock
Move the base station to a direct USB-A port on the PC or Xbox. SteelSeries recommends this arrangement for the best stability and does not guarantee every third-party hub.

Identify the connection mode first. The published estimates range from 11.5 hours on a 1000 Hz PC setup to 14 hours over Bluetooth, with 12.5 hours for Xbox or a connected headset. Polling rate, headset use, wireless conditions, firmware and battery age can all change the result.
You need a second battery
Use an Aeon Pro-compatible pack or one listed for Arctis Nova Pro, Arctis Nova Pro Omni or Arctis Nova Elite. Keep the spare in the dock so it charges while the controller is active.
Bottom line for choosing a connection
Choose the base station if Xbox is part of your setup or if you want the dock’s device switching, charging and OLED controls. Choose Bluetooth for mobile and for a cable-free PC connection, and use the USB-C-to-USB-A cable when you want a direct PC link or need to isolate a wireless problem. Plan around the connection-specific battery estimates, keep a spare battery charging in the dock, and connect the station directly to USB-A when reliability matters.
