Its clearest appeal is convenience and portability; the available evidence does not establish how its sound compares with other small speakers, so treat Sony’s sound descriptions as marketing rather than independent test results.
What the SRS-XB100 offers
Sony lists the SRS-XB100 as a compact Bluetooth wireless speaker. It weighs approximately 274 g and measures about 76 mm in diameter by 95 mm tall, according to Sony Support specifications. The supplied strap belt can make it easier to carry or attach to suitable gear, though whether it works for a particular bag or setup depends on where its loop can be secured.

The official specifications include Bluetooth 5.3 and SBC and AAC audio codecs. Sony also lists hands-free calling and stereo pairing. Its speaker-add compatibility is limited to another SRS-XB100, so do not assume it can pair with a different Sony speaker model for that function. Sony describes the sound as “Sound Diffusion for clear, wide sound”; that is Sony’s product-page wording, not an independent measurement or listening-test result.
Battery life and charging
Sony rates battery life at approximately 16 hours. This is a manufacturer estimate, not a guaranteed runtime: Sony notes that playback time varies with volume, temperature, and other use conditions. Expect your own result to depend on how and where you use the speaker.

Charging is via USB-C. Sony lists a USB-A-to-USB-C cable in the box, so a charging cable is not a necessary extra purchase for normal use. The available specifications establish USB-C charging only; they do not establish a charging-time figure here.
Water and dust protection: what IP67 means in practice
Sony lists an IP67 rating, but the water and dust tests have specific conditions. Sony describes the water test as gentle submersion to 1 m for 30 minutes with the cap securely fastened. Its rating explanation treats water protection (IPX7) and dust protection (IP6X) separately. The rating is not a reason to ignore the cap or expose the speaker to every kind of water or dirt.
Sony’s SRS-XB100 Help Guide specifically warns: “Do not place the system directly on sand, such as in a sandbox or on a sandy beach.” For use near sand, keep the speaker off the ground and follow the guide’s handling instructions. The rating should be understood within Sony’s stated test conditions, not as a guarantee against damage in all environments.

Calls and pairing another speaker
Hands-free calls
Sony lists hands-free calling as a feature. That may be useful when you want to take a call through the speaker rather than hold the phone, but the available specifications do not establish call quality in a particular room or outdoors.
Stereo pairing
Sony lists stereo pairing and says speaker-add compatibility is limited to another SRS-XB100. If stereo pairing is part of your plan, you need a second matching XB100; do not count on adding an unrelated Sony speaker.

Sony’s US product page listed the black SRS-XB100 at $54.99 when accessed in 2026. That is a time-sensitive listing price, not a stable recommendation; price and availability can change. Current competitor prices and comparative testing are not established here.

The XB100 is a plausible fit if your priorities are a small, light speaker, a carry strap, USB-C charging, and a manufacturer-rated long playback duration. Consider another option if your decision depends on verified sound quality or loudness comparisons, a measured runtime, or pairing with a speaker other than another XB100. No independent comparative findings are established here to settle those questions.
