Standard vs. Digital Deluxe
The main difference is whether the original Season Pass is bundled with the base game. SEGA describes Digital Deluxe as including “both the base game and the Season Pass”; the Season Pass and collaboration DLC can also be purchased separately. See SEGA’s purchase guide and SEGA’s official site.

| Option | What it includes | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | The base game. | Suitable if you want the core game and would rather choose add-ons later. Paid crossover packs are not included. |
| Digital Deluxe Edition | The base game and the original Season Pass. Nintendo’s listing identifies the Sonic Prime characters Rusty Rose, Tails Nine, and Knuckles the Dread, plus six content packs. | Compare its current price with the Standard Edition plus only the add-ons you actually want. |
At launch, SEGA advertised up to 72 hours of early access with Digital Deluxe on non-Nintendo platforms. That was a launch-period benefit, not a current reason to pay more. SEGA says Nintendo Switch editions do not include that early access. Check the Nintendo listing or PlayStation listing for the edition available on your platform.

SEGA’s purchase guide lists six content waves. Each adds crossover racers and related content; the packs are not all the same size.

Season Pass owners could access it after starting the updated game and completing the tutorial; Standard and physical-game owners needed to buy and download it from their platform store.
- Avatar Legends Pack: Aang and Katara; the Gliding Air machine; and the Lion Turtle Island course.
Nintendo describes the pass as the Sonic Prime Character Pack plus six packs featuring guest characters, vehicles, tracks, emotes, and more. SEGA cautions that DLC contents and release dates may change. The Season Pass and collaboration DLC are also sold separately, so check the item description in your platform’s store before buying.
Season Pass 2 is a separate question
SEGA announced Season Pass 2 on June 6, 2026, and a September notice confirmed Bayonetta for that season. The official pages available for those announcements do not establish the full contents of the second pass or confirm that it is included with the original Digital Deluxe Edition. Treat it as separate unless the current store listing for your exact edition explicitly says otherwise. The SEGA guide documents the original pass, not a guaranteed entitlement to later content.

Not every crossover racer is paid DLC
SEGA’s June 2025 announcement presented Hatsune Miku, Joker from Persona 5 Royal, and Ichiban Kasuga from Like a Dragon as racers coming through free updates. SEGA’s January 2026 Switch 2 notice also identifies Blue Star as free DLC. By contrast, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles content is a paid Season Pass wave. Check each character or pack’s store listing rather than assuming every collaboration requires Deluxe—or that every crossover is free.

SEGA confirms a physical Nintendo Switch 2 Standard Edition. Its January 2026 notice says existing Nintendo Switch owners can play the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by purchasing a paid upgrade pass. SEGA also described a discounted combined route using the Switch Digital Deluxe bundle and the Switch 2 upgrade pass. That is distinct from buying a native physical Switch 2 copy, so compare the exact format and upgrade terms in your regional store.

SEGA’s January 2026 Japanese release notice listed the Switch 2 Standard Edition at 7,990 yen including tax. That is a Japan-specific listed price, not a current US price or a universal price point. Regional pricing, availability, and upgrade terms can differ.
How to judge the price difference
Prices vary by platform, region, and sale. In US storefront snapshots accessed October 3, 2026, PlayStation listed Standard at $69.99, Digital Deluxe at $89.99, and the Season Pass at $29.99. Nintendo listed the Season Pass at $29.99 and the Minecraft and SpongeBob add-ons at $5.99 each. These are dated store observations, not a guarantee of today’s price or a universal MSRP. - RACE THROUGH GREEN HILL ZONE: Take control of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles or Dr. Eggman in a high speed tabletop race where players dash around the track and compete to collect Chaos Emeralds before rivals do.
- THRILLING ITEMS AND HAZARDS: Grab item tokens that boost speed, heal damage, set traps or slow opponents, creating dramatic comebacks and interactive moments that make every lap exciting for kids and adults.
- DYNAMIC BUILD AS YOU PLAY TRACK: Assemble the modular track as you race so the course changes during play, keeping each game fresh, unpredictable and replayable while staying quick to set up and teach.
- PRE PAINTED SONIC MINIATURES: Includes four detailed plastic miniatures of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Dr. Eggman that bring authentic video game style to the table and look great racing across the board.
- FAMILY FRIENDLY RACING GAME: Designed for 2 to 4 players ages 8 and up, with straightforward rules, fast turns and energetic competition that work well for family game night and casual Sonic fans alike.
- If you want only the base game, compare Standard prices and keep DLC as a later choice.
- If you want most or all of the original Season Pass content, compare the Deluxe bundle with Standard plus the pass at the same store and region.
- If you want just one wave, compare that wave’s current individual price with the bundle premium; do not assume Deluxe is automatically better value.
- If you already own the base Switch game, include the paid Switch 2 upgrade pass in the comparison rather than pricing the purchase as a new native Switch 2 copy.
- Check the edition name, platform, physical or digital format, and pass generation before checkout.
Which version should you choose?
- Choose Standard if the base game is what you want, you prefer a physical copy, or you are unsure which crossover packs you will use.
- Choose Digital Deluxe if you want the original Season Pass’s Sonic Prime characters and six content waves, and its price compares favorably with buying the content you want separately.
- Do not choose Deluxe solely for early access: that was a launch-period offer on non-Nintendo platforms, and Switch versions were excluded.
- For Switch 2, decide between the native physical edition and the Switch-game upgrade route based on the copy you own, the format you want, and current regional store terms.
SEGA reported more than 1 million units sold worldwide in an October 23, 2025 announcement, counting physical units and digital downloads across platforms. That is a historical publisher-reported total, not a current sales figure: SEGA’s announcement.
