Solana DvP is an open-source, MIT-licensed escrow program and API announced by the Solana Foundation on October 6, 2026. It is designed to link delivery of an asset with its payment so both legs settle in one transaction—or neither does. J.P. Morgan contributed input on institutional settlement practices, but the announcement does not say the bank designed the program or is using it for live trades.
What is Solana DvP?
Delivery-versus-payment (DvP) is a settlement arrangement that ties an asset transfer to the corresponding payment. Its purpose is to reduce principal risk: one side should not deliver value while failing to receive the other side of the trade.

The Solana Foundation describes Solana DvP as an escrow-based standard for making those two legs settle atomically in a single transaction. If the transaction does not complete, neither leg settles. The Foundation says the intended finality is measured in seconds rather than days; that is a stated capability, not an independently reported production service-level result. What did J.P. Morgan contribute?
The Solana Foundation says J.P. Morgan contributed input on institutional settlement practices and requirements. Rhodel D’souza, J.P. Morgan’s Head of Markets Digital Assets, said the bank was pleased to contribute its settlement expertise.
The Foundation’s disclaimer sets a clear boundary: J.P. Morgan did not design, develop, operate, approve, certify, endorse or guarantee Solana DvP. The contribution described is input, not a bank endorsement or confirmation of deployment.

Does this mean J.P. Morgan is settling trades on Solana?
No such deployment is announced. The Foundation release names no institution currently settling live volume through Solana DvP and provides no settled-volume figures. It presents the program as infrastructure and institutional outreach, welcoming design partners and early participants ahead of a production release.

How does the settlement workflow work?
The program’s atomic transfer design does not make every part of a trade automatic or trustless. The official documentation explains that CreateDvp records trade terms and creates two escrow accounts; it does not transfer tokens at creation. A settlement authority is recorded as part of the trade, and the parties or an operator need to verify the stored terms before taking action.

That distinction matters operationally: atomicity links the two transfer legs, while transaction setup, the authority that can settle, asset controls and the steps parties take around settlement remain relevant. The documentation is available at docs.solana.com/solutions/dvp.
Expiry is not a precise wall-clock cutoff
According to the documentation, only Settle checks expiry; reclaim, cancel and reject paths can still work after expiry. On-chain time can differ from wall-clock time by tens of seconds and can jump forward, so the documentation recommends leaving a margin around intended settlement and expiry. The deadline should not be treated as second-level precision.

Client availability for developers
As of October 2, 2026, the documentation said no client package had been published. Developers were directed to generate clients from the program IDL and use them from source. This implementation detail can change; developers should check the current documentation and repository before building against it.
Which tokens and controls does it support?
The Foundation says Solana DvP supports SPL Token and Token-2022, including extensions such as permanent delegate, pausable-token and transfer-hook features used by regulated issuers. It also says two counterparties can use the program with a settlement agent, such as a bank, custodian or exchange.

These are stated capabilities and intended integrations. They do not establish that a particular asset is compliant, that a regulator has approved the program, or that any named bank, custodian or exchange is using it.
Are audits complete, and are privacy features live?
The launch announcement says external security audits have been completed and calls the program ready for use with real funds. It does not identify the audit firms or link to audit reports, so readers cannot assess audit scope or findings from that announcement alone.
Privacy features are planned, not described as available at launch. The announcement also invites early participants and design partners ahead of production release; it does not provide a privacy launch date.
