In 91mobiles’ listed results, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 scores higher than the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e in AnTuTu and both Geekbench tests. That makes it the leader in this published comparison, not a guaranteed winner in every phone: the source does not establish matched devices, software, cooling or test conditions. The specifications show two distinct platforms, while a buying decision should also account for the particular phone’s sustained performance, heat, battery life and price.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 vs Dimensity 9400e: specifications
Qualcomm and MediaTek describe different CPU and graphics designs. The table summarizes vendor-listed platform specifications; support for a feature does not mean every phone maker implements it in the same way.

MediaTek announced the Dimensity 9400e on May 14, 2025. Its specifications describe platform capabilities; a phone’s final feature set depends on the manufacturer’s implementation. Qualcomm’s product page also lists generational gains of 36% in CPU performance, 11% in graphics performance and 13% in overall power savings. Those comparisons are against the previous Snapdragon generation, not the Dimensity 9400e, so they are not direct evidence of a gap between these two chips.

| Benchmark | Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 | Dimensity 9400e |
|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu total | 3,098,258 | 2,125,733 |
| Geekbench single-core | 2,889 | 2,219 |
| Geekbench multi-core | 9,583 | 7,308 |
These are scores reported by 91mobiles, not results from a controlled head-to-head test established by the comparison page. It does not confirm that both chips were tested in phones with the same cooling, software build or testing conditions. The figures show which result is higher on that page, but should not be read as a precise forecast of the difference between retail phones.
What the scores can—and cannot—tell you
CPU workloads
Geekbench single-core and multi-core scores offer a standardized way to compare processor results, but the listed figures do not establish how a particular phone will behave during everyday use. The chip’s configuration matters, as do the phone’s software and thermal limits.

- Display Specifications: 6.71 inches, OLED, FHD+ 1256 x 2808, 1.07 billion colors

- Processor and Graphics: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 5) Mobile Platform, Adreno 840
- Connectivity Features: Bluetooth 6.0, Wi-Fi, NFC
Graphics and gaming
AnTuTu includes more than CPU performance, but a single total score does not establish sustained gaming performance. The GPU design is different in each platform, and a phone’s cooling and power settings influence how well it can maintain performance during a long session.
Power and heat
Neither the reported scores nor Qualcomm’s generational efficiency claim establishes which chip will deliver better battery life or lower temperatures in a particular matchup. Those outcomes depend on the complete phone and the workload; Qualcomm’s 13% overall power-savings figure is a comparison with its prior generation, not with the Dimensity 9400e.

How to choose between phones using these chips
Choose between actual phone models rather than treating the processor name as the whole decision. Compare models sold in your region and check the same price and storage configuration where possible.
- Sustained performance: Look for testing of the exact phone model under extended gaming or heavy workloads, not just a peak benchmark score.
- Thermals and battery: Compare phone-level temperature and battery results under similar usage conditions. A chip’s theoretical capabilities do not determine a device’s endurance on their own.
- Connectivity: Confirm the phone’s implemented network bands and wireless features for your carrier and region. Platform support does not guarantee that every device exposes every feature.
- Camera and software: Compare the camera hardware and processing, update policy and software features of the specific phones.
- Price and availability: Check the current local listing and exact variant. The chip specifications alone do not establish a phone’s price or availability.
Qualcomm’s device finder lists the OnePlus 15R as a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 phone. That identifies a concrete model to include when comparing available devices, but its regional variant, current price and listing should be checked with the seller or manufacturer. The cited sources do not establish a corresponding Dimensity 9400e phone matchup under equivalent conditions.
Verdict
On the published 91mobiles figures, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 leads all three listed benchmark results. The available evidence does not establish a controlled comparison or a universal real-world winner. Use the scores as one signal, then choose based on credible testing and the features, sustained performance, battery life and price of the exact phones you can buy.
