Neither chipset is a clear overall winner in the available comparison. The Dimensity 6360 Max has higher reported Geekbench single-core and AnTuTu scores, while the Snapdragon 778G Plus leads in Geekbench multi-core. Those figures come from a third-party comparison page—not a controlled test—and its two AnTuTu sections disagree on the Snapdragon score. For a phone purchase, the handset’s cooling, memory, display, software and 5G bands matter alongside the chip.
How the headline benchmark results compare
91mobiles lists these scores for the two chips. They are source-reported results, not measurements made in a controlled head-to-head test, and the page does not provide enough test setup detail to treat them as universal performance figures.

| Benchmark | Snapdragon 778G Plus | Dimensity 6360 Max | Higher reported score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geekbench single-core | 732 | 784 | Dimensity 6360 Max |
| Geekbench multi-core | 2,486 | 2,042 | Snapdragon 778G Plus |
| AnTuTu summary | 596,815 | 651,333 | Dimensity 6360 Max |
| AnTuTu detailed panel | 541,618 | 651,333 | Dimensity 6360 Max |
The AnTuTu discrepancy is within the same 91mobiles comparison: its summary gives the Snapdragon 778G Plus 596,815, while its detailed panel gives 541,618. Treat either as a snapshot reported on that page, not a fixed property of every phone using the chip. [91mobiles comparison]

What the split means
Geekbench single-core results can help indicate performance in tasks that rely heavily on one core; multi-core results indicate performance in workloads able to use several cores. Here, the reported result favors the Dimensity chip in single-core and the Snapdragon in multi-core. Neither score alone establishes how responsive a particular phone will feel in everyday use.

AnTuTu combines several types of tests into one score, but the conflicting Snapdragon values make it especially unwise to use this comparison as a definitive ranking. Phone design, firmware and cooling can also affect device-level scores.
CPU, process and graphics specifications

| CPU cores listed | 1 Cortex-A78 up to 2.5 GHz; 3 Cortex-A78 up to 2.4 GHz; 4 Cortex-A55 up to 1.8 GHz | 2 Cortex-A76 up to 2.4 GHz; 6 Cortex-A55 up to 2.0 GHz |

| GPU reported | Adreno 642 | Mali-G57 MC2 |
Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 778G Plus in October 2021 as a follow-on to the Snapdragon 778G, describing it as having boosted CPU and GPU performance. That is the manufacturer’s positioning, not independent evidence of a particular gaming advantage. Qualcomm’s official page retrieved for the related base Snapdragon 778G specifies Adreno 642L; that should not be silently substituted for the Adreno 642 listed for the Plus in the third-party comparison. 1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesMemory, display and 5G figures
91mobiles reports these limits for the chips; actual handset specifications can be lower. MediaTek’s official Dimensity 6360 page confirms the base 6360’s LPDDR4x and UFS 2.2 support, up to 120 Hz display refresh and peak download speeds up to 3.3 Gb/s. That official page is for Dimensity 6360, not specifically the Max variant. [MediaTek Dimensity 6360 specifications]

| Capability reported | Snapdragon 778G Plus | Dimensity 6360 Max |
|---|---|---|
| Memory | LPDDR5 | LPDDR4X |
| Storage | UFS 3.1 | UFS 2.2 |
| Display | Up to FHD+ at 144 Hz | Up to FHD+ at 120 Hz |
| Peak 5G download speed | Up to 3.7 Gb/s | Up to 3.3 Gb/s |
Peak download figures are theoretical ceilings, not promises of real-world speed. Coverage, network configuration, supported bands and the phone’s implementation all affect connectivity. Likewise, a chipset’s display ceiling does not guarantee the phone has a panel with that resolution or refresh rate.
What official MediaTek information establishes about “Max”
MediaTek’s product-family page confirms Dimensity 6360 Max as a named member of the Dimensity 6000 family, but does not publish Max-specific technical specifications. Its separate Dimensity 6360 page describes the base configuration, including Mali-G57 MC2 graphics, LPDDR4x memory, UFS 2.2 storage, refresh rates up to 120 Hz, camera support up to 108 MP and peak download speeds up to 3.3 Gb/s. Those base-chip details should not be assumed to define every Max-specific feature unless a handset maker or MediaTek confirms them. Which chip should you choose?
For CPU performance
The available scores split: Dimensity 6360 Max leads in reported Geekbench single-core, while Snapdragon 778G Plus leads in multi-core. If CPU performance matters, use these as limited clues rather than a purchase verdict. Compare reviews of the exact phones you are considering, ideally using the same benchmark version and test conditions.
For gaming
The comparison identifies different GPUs, but it does not establish sustained frame rates, thermal behavior or performance in specific games. A phone’s cooling system, firmware and game optimization can affect results. Qualcomm’s statement that the 778G Plus boosts GPU performance is a product claim, not an independent gaming test.

For the whole phone
Compare the actual handset’s RAM capacity, storage, screen, supported 5G bands and cooling—not only the chipset’s reported maximums. 91mobiles lists the OPPO F33 Pro 5G as a Dimensity 6360 Max phone and several Snapdragon 778G Plus phones, but those examples are not a controlled device comparison.
