Its specifications are substantial, but benchmark scores and Qualcomm’s launch comparisons are not guarantees for every phone: the handset, software, workload and benchmark version all matter.
What is the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2?
Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 on March 17, 2023, describing it at launch as the most powerful Snapdragon 7-series platform. It is a mobile system-on-chip platform intended for smartphones, not a component consumers typically buy separately. Qualcomm’s launch figures compare it with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1; they are vendor claims rather than promises of a particular phone’s performance. Qualcomm’s announcement and product brief provide the launch and technical details.

Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 specifications
The figures below describe platform capabilities in Qualcomm’s product brief. A phone maker chooses which capabilities to implement, and retail configurations can differ.
| Area | Qualcomm-listed specification | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Manufacturing process | 4 nm | The process label alone does not guarantee a particular performance or efficiency result. |
| CPU | 64-bit Kryo: one prime core up to 2.91 GHz, three performance cores up to 2.49 GHz, and four efficiency cores up to 1.8 GHz | These are Qualcomm’s platform core descriptions and maximum listed frequencies. |
| GPU | Qualcomm Adreno; Vulkan 1.1, OpenGL ES 3.2 and OpenCL 2.0 FP | The cited specification page does not give a retail-facing GPU model number. |
| AI | Hexagon components including scalar and tensor accelerators and HVX; fused AI accelerator architecture | Actual on-device AI features depend on phone software and implementation. |
| Cellular | Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF; downlink up to 4.4 Gbps; support for mmWave and sub-6 GHz | Supported bands, carrier aggregation and availability vary by handset and market. |
| Wi-Fi and Bluetooth | FastConnect 6900; Wi-Fi 6 and 6E; Bluetooth 5.3 | OEM configuration affects which options a phone offers. |
| Memory and storage | LPDDR5 up to 16 GB; UFS 3.1 | These are platform limits and supported technology, not a promise that a phone includes 16 GB of RAM. |
| Display and video | On-device display up to QHD+ at 120 Hz; external display up to 4K at 60 Hz; 4K HDR video features | The phone’s panel, camera sensor and implementation determine the features users get. |
| Charging | Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 technology | Phone-maker support and the included charger depend on model and market. |
| Part number | SM7475-AB | Useful for identifying the platform in technical documentation. |
What do the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 performance claims mean?
At launch, Qualcomm claimed more than 50% better CPU performance, twice the GPU performance and up to 13% improved system power efficiency compared with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. These are Qualcomm’s comparisons, not independent results or assurances that every phone will achieve those gains. Qualcomm’s product brief says outcomes vary with OEM implementation and other factors.

For a buyer, the chip’s capabilities are only one part of the experience. Cooling, software, memory configuration, display resolution and the workload can all affect observed speed, sustained performance and battery use. A result from one device cannot be transferred unchanged to another handset with the same platform.
Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 benchmark results
Independent reference-handset testing
Android Authority benchmarked a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 reference handset ahead of commercial launch. In its selected CPU comparisons, that device landed around Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 territory and approached some Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 phones; Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 retained an advantage in multi-core testing. In the publication’s 3DMark Wild Life test, the reference handset scored below Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 devices, though it performed well against several older or mid-tier devices in that comparison set. Its 3DMark Wild Life stress-test stability was reported as 99.76%. These are results for that reference configuration and test setup, not a universal score for phones using the chip. Android Authority’s benchmark report gives its testing context.
Why database scores do not make a single universal benchmark
Notebookcheck’s database lists 1,455 single-core and 4,224 multi-core in Geekbench 6.0 for a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 entry. It separately lists a POCO F5 with 8 GB of RAM at 1,687 single-core and 4,378 multi-core in Geekbench 6.7.1; the POCO F5 entry also records 1,115,567 in AnTuTu v9. The Geekbench numbers use different versions and device configurations, so they are not a direct comparison or a guaranteed range for all phones. Benchmark versions and handset conditions should stay attached to any score. Notebookcheck’s benchmark database shows the entries and labels.
Is the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 good for gaming?
Its Adreno GPU and Qualcomm’s stated improvements over the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 make it a capable platform to consider for gaming, but the available test evidence is mixed by comparison: the reference handset trailed Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phones in 3DMark Wild Life while scoring well against several older or mid-tier devices in that test. A single graphics benchmark cannot establish frame rates in every game or how well a particular phone sustains performance over a long session.
When comparing gaming phones, look for tests of the exact handset and games you play. Check sustained-load behavior, cooling and screen resolution as well as peak benchmark scores; a phone’s thermal design and software can shape the result.
Which phones use Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2?
The POCO F5 is one documented example: Notebookcheck’s database identifies an 8 GB configuration using this platform. That example does not establish current stock, price or suitability in any particular region. Confirm the exact model and memory configuration in the listing for your market. At launch, Qualcomm said commercial devices were expected from Redmi and realme in March 2023; that historical expectation is not a current availability list.
How to compare phones with this chipset
Compare complete phones rather than treating the processor name as a full performance verdict. For benchmark comparisons, use the same benchmark version and, where possible, the same test conditions. Also examine the device-specific details that affect your intended use:

- CPU: Compare results from the same benchmark version and note the phone and memory configuration.
- Gaming: Look for graphics tests in the games and settings you care about, including sustained performance under longer loads.
- Battery and heat: Consider phone-level battery behavior and thermal management, not a chipset efficiency claim alone.
- Features: Check the actual RAM and storage, display, camera features, supported cellular bands and software support.
- Purchase details: Verify regional availability and current pricing for the exact handset; chipset specifications do not establish either.
