The available owner feedback is mixed and limited: ProductReview.com.au shows 1.5/5 from 23 reviews, including reports of suction loss and control problems.
What is the Smeg PUM60X?
The PUM60X is a stainless-steel, 60 cm-wide rangehood designed to sit concealed beneath a cupboard or within an island bulkhead. Smeg’s specification sheet gives dimensions of 600 mm wide × 290 mm deep × 420 mm high and notes that dimensions can vary. It can be installed for ducted extraction or recirculation, with 150 mm ducting specified for ducted arrangements. The PUM60X specification sheet is the most useful source for model-specific fit and installation details.

CHOICE lists the model as discontinued. Smeg Australia has a page for the PUM601X, but it is a distinct model: its listed body dimensions are 254 × 600 × 290 mm, unlike the PUM60X dimensions. Do not use PUM601X specifications as a substitute when checking a PUM60X installation or replacement. CHOICE’s PUM60X listing identifies the older model’s status, while Smeg’s PUM601X page describes the different appliance.
How strong is the PUM60X extraction?
The PUM60X specification sheet reports 450 m³/h under IEC 61591. That is the model-specific airflow figure with a stated test standard. A separate ManualsLib transcription of the PUM60X manual says “Airflow ≥700m³/h” but does not provide the same IEC 61591 qualification. The available listings do not explain the difference, so it is not possible to determine whether the larger number reflects a different measurement context. Treat these as distinct published claims, not competing measurements taken on a directly comparable basis. The ManualsLib manual listing is the source of the unqualified figure.

The sheet also lists a 138 W motor, three speeds and a noise rating of 58 dBA. It does not specify the speed or measurement conditions associated with that noise figure, so it should not be read as a noise level guaranteed at every setting. CHOICE lists three speed settings too, but its lighting details differ from the specification sheet: CHOICE says two 2 W LED lights, while the sheet lists one 2 W LED. The sources do not resolve the discrepancy. CHOICE’s listing and the specification sheet should therefore be read separately for these details.
Filters and installation details
Grease and charcoal filtration
The specification sheet lists a five-ply aluminium grease filter. For recirculating use, it lists optional activated charcoal filter HA019W7S-11; CHOICE also associates that part number with the PUM60X. Check that the filter is compatible with your exact model and available in your region before ordering, as current stock and pricing are not established by these listings.

Ducting and fit
The sheet specifies a 150 mm duct and allows ducted-to-atmosphere or recirculating installation. Confirm the cabinet or bulkhead opening and the installation route against the appliance documentation before purchase or fitting. The published 600 × 290 × 420 mm dimensions are for the PUM60X, not the PUM601X.

Warranty
The specification sheet states two years of parts and labour warranty. That undated specification should not be taken as a current warranty promise: applicable coverage depends on purchase date and region, so check the documentation supplied with the appliance or ask Smeg support about a specific unit.

What do owners report?
ProductReview.com.au displays a 1.5/5 rating across 23 reviews. The page includes individual reports of suction reducing before the fan stopped, as well as control-panel buttons failing; one reviewer alleges that replacing the panel was costly. These are personal accounts rather than independently verified service records or a representative reliability study, so they do not establish how often faults occur. The owner-review page provides the underlying comments and current aggregate shown there.
CHOICE has a product listing, but the information available on that page does not establish a particular extraction, noise or cooking performance test result for the PUM60X. The specifications and owner comments are therefore not a substitute for controlled comparative testing.

Should you buy or keep a PUM60X?
For someone who already owns one, the model-specific details that matter most are its 60 cm width, 150 mm duct requirement and optional HA019W7S-11 charcoal filter for recirculation. If the fan stops while the lights still work, or suction drops unexpectedly, the owner accounts show that such complaints have been reported, but they do not diagnose an individual appliance. Use the manual and qualified service support rather than assuming a particular fault from another owner’s experience.

For a new purchase, discontinued status makes availability and support important questions. Verify the exact model suffix, installation dimensions, filter supply and warranty terms for the unit being offered. A PUM601X listing is not proof that it is a direct replacement for the PUM60X.
