Which Breathing Styles are currently listed in Slayers 2?
Recent community coverage identifies eight styles: Water, Flame, Thunder, Wind, Sound, Insect, Stone, and Serpent. Serpent and Snake are two names for the same style, not separate choices. A launch-focused roster article updated September 20, 2026 lists those eight and says Sun and Mist are not launch styles. An older September 19 roster article conflicts by listing seven styles and including Sun, so check dates and sources rather than assuming franchise characters or techniques are playable in this game. - Mobility and defense: Movement can help you reposition or pursue, while guard interaction can affect how opponents defend.
- Execution: A style may offer strong follow-through but demand precise positioning or timing. Pick a kit you can use consistently, not just one with a high placement on a list.
What current guides say about each style
The available October guide gives specific comments on five styles; it does not provide equally detailed, verified comparisons for all eight. The descriptions below distinguish those reported observations from aspects the cited coverage does not establish.

Wind
Pro Game Guides calls Wind its best overall style after reported V0.2 changes. It reports that Mountain Wind received a 30% damage increase and that holding Whirlwind Cutter grants hyper armor. Those are the guide’s balance and move-behavior claims, not independently verified official measurements or an official tier designation. Wind is a reasonable style to investigate if you want a current meta pick, but the ranking is dated October 6, 2026 and may change.
Flame
The same guide places Flame in S tier and describes Flame Undulation as a guardbreaking release. That makes its reported guard interaction relevant to players who want to challenge defensive opponents. The S-tier placement is the guide author’s assessment, not a permanent or official ranking.

Sound
Sound is described as a specialist with guard disruption and team utility. The guide notes that its Ultimate does not continue after breaking guard, and that bead timing can scatter targets. Treat clan benefits separately from the style’s innate kit: a clan advantage is not automatically part of Sound itself.

Serpent (Snake)
The October guide presents Serpent as a mobile duelist option for sustained single-target pressure. Its positioning and aerial follow-through are described as more demanding, so it may suit players willing to practice movement and target tracking rather than those seeking the simplest execution.

Water
Water remains in A tier in the October guide, which highlights a versatile base kit and approach tools. The guide also mentions reductions specific to Ranked play. That combination supports Water as a flexible option, not as a universal best or a style that should be dismissed based on an older tier label.
Thunder, Wind, Insect, and Stone
Although Thunder, Insect, and Stone appear in the documented roster, the cited current guide material does not establish enough comparable detail here to rank their range, pressure, mobility, defense interaction, or execution demands against the other styles. Wind has the specific current guide comments above; for the others, choose based on the move behavior you observe in-game rather than assuming an unsupported tier or combo profile.

What “combos” can be compared reliably?
The current evidence does not establish authoritative, complete combo strings for all eight styles, so exact button sequences would be unreliable. Compare combo roles instead: an opener creates the first hit or forces a response; an extender keeps pressure going after a hit; a finisher converts an opening into damage; and an escape or repositioning move helps break contact. The guide’s notes on Flame’s guardbreaking release, Sound’s guard interaction and bead timing, and Serpent’s aerial follow-through are specific observations, not complete routes.
Before committing to a route, check the live move list and test whether an opener actually connects at your preferred range, whether the follow-up can be interrupted, and whether the finisher works against a guarding target. Exact inputs and optimal routes can change with balance updates; the cited guides do not substantiate full routes for every style.

Which style should you try first?
- Want a current all-around meta candidate? Try Wind, while treating its October 6 ranking and reported V0.2 changes as a dated community assessment.
- Want to challenge guard? Investigate Flame for the reported guardbreaking behavior of Flame Undulation, or Sound for its reported guard disruption. Their mechanics are not interchangeable: Sound’s Ultimate reportedly stops after breaking guard.
- Prefer a flexible kit and approach options? Water is presented as versatile, with the caveat that the guide mentions Ranked-specific reductions.
- Prefer mobile, sustained single-target pressure? Serpent is described as a duelist choice, but its positioning and aerial follow-through ask for more practice.
- Choosing among Thunder, Insect, and Stone? The cited current coverage does not give enough detail for a reliable winner among them. Try each in the mode you play and judge its reach, pressure, movement, and ease of landing follow-ups.
