Choose based on the file you want and the workflow you need: SingleFileZ saves a page as a self-extracting HTML/ZIP hybrid that packages page resources, while Save Page WE describes its output as one HTML file representing the page as currently displayed. SingleFileZ’s Firefox listing explicitly includes desktop and mobile; check Save Page WE’s current listing for support on your device. Neither product’s documentation establishes a general winner for speed or fidelity.
How the saved files differ
SingleFileZ describes its output as a single HTML file that is also a valid ZIP archive containing page resources. Its Firefox listing describes saving a complete page, including CSS, images, fonts, and frames. The project calls this a “self-extracting HTML/ZIP hybrid” file. See the SingleFileZ Firefox listing and SingleFileZ FAQ.

Save Page WE describes its output as one HTML file for the page as currently displayed, which can then be opened in a browser. That is a different packaging approach, not proof that either file will be smaller, more portable, or more complete on every site. See the Save Page WE Firefox listing.

Choose SingleFileZ if its documented workflows matter
SingleFileZ’s listing documents saving the current tab, selected content, a frame, or a link, as well as saving multiple tabs. These options can help if you want to capture a particular part of a page or several open pages. The available documentation describes features, not a comparative performance advantage over Save Page WE.

Its listing also mentions compatibility with Print Edit WE 26.1 or later for full compatibility when the two are used together; check the current versions before relying on that combination.
Check device support before installing
SingleFileZ’s Firefox listing explicitly says it supports desktop and mobile. The Save Page WE listing cited here does not establish equivalent Firefox mobile support. Verify its current add-on listing for your device and Firefox version before choosing.

What offline saving preserves—and what it does not
A saved page is a snapshot of a site, not necessarily a working copy of its web application. The documentation describes saving page resources, but does not promise that server-backed features, live data, sign-ins, forms, or other interactive behavior will continue to work offline. Pages with frames, deferred images, or dynamic content are especially worth checking after saving.
SingleFileZ’s FAQ documents local-file opening constraints. It says Firefox and Safari can view its saved pages from the filesystem, with a documented Safari setting, while Chrome requires SingleFileZ to view the saved file locally. It also says those restrictions do not apply when the saved page is hosted on a server. Browser behavior can vary by version, so consult the current FAQ before relying on a particular local-file workflow.

- High capacity in a small enclosure – The small, lightweight design offers up to 6TB* capacity, making WD Elements portable hard drives the ideal companion for consumers on the go.
- Plug-and-play expandability
- Vast capacities up to 6TB[1] to store your photos, videos, music, important documents and more
- SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps)
Save Page WE’s listing notes that Firefox WebExtensions are not allowed to read local files. That is a browser-extension permission constraint; check the listing for the current behavior and options relevant to your use.
Capture settings and trade-offs
SingleFileZ’s FAQ says its default configuration favors smaller pages and may slow saving. The vendor documents that turning off removal of hidden elements or unused styles can speed processing, while disabling frame removal or deferred-image saving may leave resources out. These are documented configuration trade-offs, not independently measured results.

- Plug-and-play expandability

SingleFile, a related project but not the same add-on as SingleFileZ, documents workflows that include selecting content, frames, links or multiple tabs, adding highlights and notes, and removing content before saving. Its README lists Firefox desktop and mobile plus several other browsers. These listed capabilities may matter for annotation or multi-page workflows, but they do not show that it outperforms Save Page WE. SingleFile project README.

How to decide on your own pages
- Install the extension from its current Firefox Add-ons listing and check that it supports your Firefox device and version.
- Save a few representative pages: one mostly static article, one with frames or deferred images, and one with the dynamic elements you care about.
- Open the resulting files offline in the browser and device where you expect to use them. Check images, fonts, layout, and any content that was loaded after the initial page view.
- If you need to keep files local, test the actual opening workflow in your target browser. For SingleFileZ, consult its FAQ for browser-specific local-file restrictions.
- Choose based on the file format and workflow that works for those pages, rather than assuming one extension is universally more faithful or faster.
Firefox’s built-in save option
Firefox also has a built-in option to save a web page to your computer for offline access. Mozilla Support documents the basic workflow in its guide, How to save a web page. Consider it for occasional saves if you do not need an add-on’s documented capture workflows.

If you need a screenshot rather than an offline HTML page, ScreenshotNeo offers a website screenshot API and MCP server. One request can return an image or PDF; it is not a replacement for a browsable offline page archive. Its clean-shot options accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, and each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, with the result identified in response headers. AI agents can use its MCP server tools, including take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf.
For example, this cURL request captures stripe.com as WebP (see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for setup and options):
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan.
