The legacy SingleFileZ shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+Y, and you can change an extension shortcut through your browser’s extension-shortcut settings. SingleFileZ has since been merged into SingleFile, so if you no longer see a SingleFileZ entry, check for SingleFile instead.
What Ctrl+Shift+Y does—and why you may see SingleFile instead
The legacy SingleFileZ Firefox listing documents Ctrl+Shift+Y as a customizable shortcut for saving the current tab or selected tabs. Current SingleFile help also documents Ctrl+Shift+Y, but its behavior depends on how it is invoked: the default command saves selected page content if text is selected, while a custom command assigned to a profile saves the entire page. SingleFile help
Change the shortcut in Firefox
- Open the browser menu and choose Extensions and themes, then Extensions.
- Click the cogwheel labeled Tools for all add-ons.
- Choose Manage Extension Shortcuts.
- Find the SingleFile or SingleFileZ command and use its available control to assign a shortcut.
Firefox only shows shortcut options for add-ons when they are available. The legacy SingleFileZ listing covers Firefox desktop and mobile, but menu presentation can vary by browser version and platform. If SingleFileZ is not listed, look for SingleFile. Change the shortcut in Chrome
- Enter
chrome://extensions/shortcutsin the address bar. - Find the relevant SingleFile command.
- Use the shortcut control to assign an available key combination.
Because SingleFileZ was merged into SingleFile, the current command may appear under SingleFile rather than SingleFileZ. The current SingleFile help identifies this Chrome shortcut page as the place to change the assignment. SingleFile help
Troubleshoot a shortcut that does not work
Check that the command exists and has an assignment
Start in the browser’s extension-shortcut manager. Confirm that the installed extension appears and that the command has a shortcut assigned. In Firefox, an add-on may have no shortcut options to show.

Check whether you installed SingleFile or SingleFileZ
The SingleFileZ project says it was merged into SingleFile. If you cannot find the old product entry, look for SingleFile and check its command there.
Check whether text is selected
With current SingleFile, the default Ctrl+Shift+Y command saves selected page content when text is selected. A custom shortcut assigned to a profile saves the entire page instead. If the result is only a selection, check whether you are using the default command or a profile command.

Check whether the page is blocked
Browsers restrict extensions on certain pages and domains for security. A shortcut may work on ordinary websites but not on a browser-protected page. The SingleFileZ FAQ describes these restrictions. SingleFileZ FAQ
Separate an unassigned key from a page restriction
If the assignment is present but the shortcut still fails, note the browser and version, installed extension name, displayed assignment, and whether the problem occurs everywhere or only on one page. The documented guidance establishes where to inspect assignments and that some pages block extensions; it does not set out a complete conflict-resolution procedure for every browser and operating-system combination.
