To install SingleFileZ in Chrome, open its Chrome Web Store listing, select Add to Chrome, and approve Add extension if Chrome asks. Once installed, load the webpage you want to keep, wait for it to finish loading, then click the SingleFileZ toolbar button. It saves the page as a self-extracting HTML file.
Install SingleFileZ in Chrome
- Open the SingleFileZ Chrome Web Store listing. Confirm that the listing identifies SingleFileZ before installing; SingleFileZ is a fork of SingleFile, not the similarly named SingleFile extension.
- Select Add to Chrome.
- If Chrome displays a confirmation prompt, select Add extension. Chrome’s general extension instructions are in its official installation help.
- After installation, find the extension button to the right of Chrome’s address bar. If it is not visible, open Chrome’s Extensions menu and locate SingleFileZ there.
Chrome does not allow extensions to be added in Incognito or guest mode. A work or school administrator may also block extension installation. The current SingleFileZ listing availability, version, and exact current interface labels have not been independently established, so the store page is the place to check availability and the prompt Chrome presents on your device.

Save your first webpage
- In a normal Chrome window, open the webpage you want to save.
- Wait for the page to finish loading. For pages that populate content after an initial load, allow that content to appear before saving.
- Click the SingleFileZ button in Chrome’s toolbar or Extensions menu.
- Use Chrome’s download behavior to locate the resulting self-extracting HTML file.
SingleFileZ’s documented workflow is to click its toolbar button after the desired page has loaded. It saves a self-extracting HTML file, rather than the kind of ordinary page link that requires the original site to be online.

If a saved file does not open correctly from your filesystem in Chromium, check the extension’s file access permission:

- Open Chrome’s Extensions management page and select SingleFileZ’s details.
- Enable Allow access to file URLs.
- Make sure JavaScript is enabled in Chrome, since the saved page needs it to display.
- Open the saved HTML file again.
These requirements apply to opening saved files from the filesystem in Chromium; they do not change the initial save procedure.
SingleFileZ and SingleFile are different extensions
SingleFileZ is a fork of SingleFile and is identified by its self-extracting HTML output. Do not use instructions or version details for the separate SingleFile extension as evidence of SingleFileZ’s current version or availability. Check the SingleFileZ store listing itself for current listing details.
