If SingleFile saves a page without images that appear only after you scroll, let the page finish loading, scroll through the image-heavy sections and wait for the images to appear, then save again. If that is not enough, enable SingleFile’s option to save content loaded while scrolling. It is a best-effort feature, not a guarantee: some sites need simulated scrolling, more time, or page-specific handling.
Why images can be missing from a saved page
Some pages defer loading images until you scroll near them. If you save before the page has requested or displayed those images, the saved HTML may not include them. SingleFile has a deferred-content option intended to load and save content that appears while scrolling, including images and frames. Its documentation describes this as best-effort; it can take longer and may not work on every site.

SingleFile saves a page and its resources into one HTML file. It cannot save an image the page never exposes to the browser, fix an error on the source site, or bypass access controls.

Load the images before saving
- Wait for the initial page load. Open the page and let its first load finish before starting the capture.
- Scroll through the page. Move through image-heavy sections and pause where placeholders are still visible. Wait for them to turn into images before continuing.
- Save with SingleFile. Use the extension’s toolbar button after the images you need have appeared.
- Check the saved HTML. Open the file and inspect the sections that previously had missing images. If they are still absent, try the settings below and save again.
Use SingleFile’s deferred-content settings
Open SingleFile’s options and look for the setting labelled save content loaded while scrolling. Depending on the browser and extension release, it may appear under an Images or deferred-content section. Enable it, then capture the page again. This option asks SingleFile to load deferred content before saving; expect the capture to take longer.

Try simulated scrolling when the site depends on scroll events
If the site loads images only after its own scroll listener runs, enable simulate scrolling and retry. SingleFile says this dispatches scroll events while waiting, which may trigger the site’s loader. It is site-dependent and can cause unexpected scrolling, so turn it off if it makes the page behave incorrectly.
Increase maximum idle time when loading is slow
If image requests are still in progress when capture begins, increase maximum idle time so SingleFile waits longer for deferred content to settle. This can help with a slow network or system, but it will not fix a site-specific loader that is not responding to the events SingleFile uses.

Choose the next step based on what you see
| What happens | What to try | Trade-off or limit |
|---|---|---|
| Images appear as you scroll manually, but were missing from the file. | Scroll through the needed sections, wait for the images, and save again; also enable save content loaded while scrolling. | Manual scrolling takes time, and the deferred-content feature is not guaranteed to capture every page. |
| Images appear only when the page receives scroll events. | Try simulate scrolling. | It may trigger the loader, but can cause unexpected scrolling and may not suit the site. |
| Images eventually appear, but take a long time. | Increase maximum idle time and recapture. | A longer wait costs time; it does not solve every loading failure. |
| The same page still omits images after those steps. | Inspect whether the page exposes the images in the browser. For an unusual custom loader, consider page-specific preparation. | There may be no general setting that can capture content the page does not expose. |
Advanced option: prepare a page with a user script
For a technically capable user dealing with a particular site’s custom loader, SingleFile documents an asynchronous pre-capture user-script hook. A script can pause the capture request while page-specific preparation runs. This requires enabling and configuring the hook and writing code, so it is an escalation path rather than the first fix. The documented user-script instructions are on a project-maintained wiki page edited October 4, 2024; check the current instructions and your extension version before configuring it.

If you need a screenshot rather than a self-contained offline HTML page, ScreenshotNeo can capture a page as an image or PDF, with full-page capture that loads lazy images. It is not a replacement for SingleFile when you need the page saved as HTML.

When the capture still looks incomplete
- Confirm that the images appeared in the live page before saving; placeholders alone do not show that the image loaded.
- Try the deferred-content setting first, then simulated scrolling if the site responds to scroll events.
- Give a slow page more idle time, but verify the result by opening the saved file.
- If the image never appears in the browser, or the page uses a custom loader that the usual steps do not trigger, SingleFile may not be able to include it without page-specific handling.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will SingleFile preserve the page’s original layout and behavior exactly?
A saved HTML copy is not the live website: scripts, remote services, and other dynamic behavior may not work the same way offline.
Can I use a cloud destination to fix missing images?
No. Uploading a saved file to a destination such as Google Drive or Dropbox changes where the file is stored, not what SingleFile captured.
