If your SIM tray will not eject, first confirm that your exact phone model has a physical SIM tray and identify its release hole. Insert the supplied eject tool straight into that hole and press gently toward the phone. If the tray does not release with a careful attempt, stop—do not pry or increase the force—and contact the manufacturer, carrier, or an authorized repair center.
Check that you have a physical SIM tray
Tray locations and designs vary by phone. Some models or regional versions have no physical SIM tray and use eSIM instead. Check the support page or manual for your exact model and market before inserting a tool. On iPhone, Apple’s SIM instructions show tray positions by model and explain that physical-SIM availability varies.

Make sure you have identified the tray’s release hole, not a nearby opening. HONOR warns that on its devices the SIM-hole can be confused with a microphone hole; use your model’s documentation to identify the right one.
Try one careful, straight release
- Use the supplied eject tool. Place its tip in the release hole associated with the SIM tray.
- Press straight inward. Keep the tool vertical and press toward the phone with controlled pressure. Apple says not to force it, and HONOR cautions against tilting the tool.
- Stop if the tray does not pop out. Do not angle the tool to hook the tray, pull at its edge, or keep increasing pressure. HONOR warns that forceful or angled removal can damage or break the tray.
If the original tool is missing, Apple identifies a paper clip as an alternative. Use a small, sturdy one carefully, keeping it straight. Avoid toothpicks and other brittle objects that could break inside the hole, and do not use any substitute as a lever.

Why a SIM tray might be stuck
Without the phone’s exact model and an inspection, the cause cannot be confirmed. Common possibilities include:
- The wrong opening: The tool may be in a nearby hole rather than the tray release.
- Misalignment: A tilted tool may not press the release mechanism correctly and can damage the tray.
- A damaged tray or mechanism: If careful use of the correct hole does not release it, the phone may need service assessment.
- An incompatible tray: Apple advises using only the SIM tray made for the device; trays from different models may not fit.
- A nonstandard SIM or obstruction: HTC warns that a thicker-than-standard SIM may get stuck and that the tray should not be obstructed during removal.
- No physical tray on that version: Some phone models and regional configurations use eSIM only.
These are possibilities, not a diagnosis. Do not assume dirt, liquid damage, a drop, or a specific mechanical fault without evidence.

When to get help
If the correct tool, hole, and straight technique do not release the tray, contact support for your exact model and region rather than trying more force.
