If you sell on Amazon and want AI help with your seller business, the more relevant Amazon product is Seller Assistant, a separate tool. These products serve different users, so there is no like-for-like winner.
What does Shopify Magic do?
Shopify Magic is a collection of AI features built into Shopify merchant workflows, not a standalone shopping chatbot. Shopify lists help with creating store content, generating and editing images, and drafting responses in Shopify Inbox. Where Sidekick fits
Sidekick is Shopify’s AI assistant for merchants. Shopify describes it as a way to get store insights and help with operational work, including store setup and metafield management. In practical terms, Magic covers several AI-enabled workflows, while Sidekick is the assistant merchants can use to ask for help with their store.
What does Amazon Rufus do for sellers?
Rufus was not a seller dashboard or a tool for managing an Amazon business. It was Amazon’s customer-facing shopping assistant, designed to answer questions about shopping needs and products, compare products, and help shoppers discover and choose items. Amazon renamed it Alexa for Shopping on May 13, 2026. Its current description includes personalized answers and shopping actions. Amazon reported that Rufus helped more than 300 million customers in 2025 research, compare, and buy products on Amazon’s shopping app and website. That is a company-reported figure, not an independent measurement of seller results. The assistant may shape how customers explore products, but the cited product descriptions do not establish that it improves a seller’s ranking, sales, or profits.
Is Rufus the same as Amazon Seller Assistant?
No. Alexa for Shopping is for Amazon shoppers; Seller Assistant is Amazon’s separate AI-powered business partner for independent sellers. Amazon says Seller Assistant can provide tailored insights and recommendations and, with a seller’s permission, take action. Sellers looking for help running their Amazon business should start with Amazon Seller Assistant, not treat Alexa for Shopping as a seller-management tool.

- You run a Shopify store: Explore Magic for content, imagery, and customer replies, and Sidekick for store insights and operational assistance. Check which features and languages are available to your account.
- You sell on Amazon: Look at Seller Assistant for seller-business support. Alexa for Shopping is aimed at your customers, not at managing your seller account.
- You want to help shoppers on a Shopify storefront: Shopify App Store listings include separate third-party products such as Dialog and Manifest AI. They are not Shopify Magic or Amazon tools. Check each app’s current features, pricing, availability, and terms before choosing one.
Availability and what the descriptions do—and don’t—tell you
Shopify says Magic tools and experiences are currently available for free to all Shopify merchants regardless of subscription plan, but access to specific features may vary. This is Shopify’s stated position on its Magic page; feature eligibility and language support can differ, so verify what is available in your account and region before relying on a particular capability.
