Sequoia Capital was reportedly nearing a new investment in Mecka AI at an approximate $500 million valuation, but the available report did not say the deal had closed—and it did not identify NVIDIA as an investor. Mecka says it builds data and deployment infrastructure for physical AI, rather than robots themselves.
What is known about the Sequoia financing?
TechCrunch reported on September 11, 2026, citing two people with knowledge of the deal, that a Sequoia-led financing for Mecka AI was nearing completion at an approximate $500 million valuation. The report said the round’s size was unknown and its terms were not final and could change. Mecka did not respond to TechCrunch’s request for comment, and Sequoia declined to comment. TechCrunch’s report therefore describes a prospective deal, not a confirmed closing or final valuation.

The valuation is not the amount Mecka would raise: the reported account did not disclose the round size. The earlier financing was a $60 million round announced about three months before the September report. TechCrunch said that round was led by Framework Ventures, with Menlo Ventures, SV Angel, and Kindred Ventures participating. The prior-round report does not establish the final terms of the later prospective financing.

Is NVIDIA backing Mecka AI?
The cited financing report names Sequoia as the prospective lead investor; it does not name NVIDIA as an investor. NVIDIA’s annual report discusses the company’s robotics platforms and the broader ecosystem of companies building on them, but that ecosystem context does not establish an investment in or partnership with Mecka. NVIDIA’s annual reports are not evidence of a Mecka-specific relationship.

- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
Accordingly, the headline claim that NVIDIA backs Mecka is not supported by the available sources. That does not rule out a separate relationship; it means one should not be asserted without direct confirmation.
What does Mecka do?
Mecka describes itself as a data and deployment layer for physical AI. Its work, as described by the company, includes collecting real-world human activity data for robot learning, providing evaluation tools, and helping integrate hardware, models, and commercial partners into deployments. Mecka’s FAQ puts its role plainly: “We don’t build robots — we’re the integrator.” Mecka’s website describes these offerings; the descriptions are the company’s own, not independent verification of performance.

Data, tools, and integration
The company describes Egoverse as a dataset of first-person activity spanning tasks, spaces, and environments. Its listed services include mobile data collection, web tools for browsing and visualizing data, inference APIs, dataset access, commissioned task-specific collection, model evaluation, and enterprise programs. These offerings position Mecka as infrastructure for teams developing or deploying embodied AI, not as a robot manufacturer.
Mecka says it is built for robotics labs, frontier model teams, and enterprises deploying embodied systems. TechCrunch reported that the company had not publicly disclosed its customer list, so specific customers cannot be named on the basis of that account.

What do the reported financial figures mean?
TechCrunch also reported that co-founder Josh Gao told Fortune in early June that Mecka projected a $100 million annual run rate by the end of 2026. That is a forward-looking projection attributed to Gao, not a reported result already achieved. TechCrunch’s account of the projection does not establish that Mecka later met it.
The reported $500 million figure is an approximate valuation associated with a prospective round, while $60 million refers to the earlier raise and $100 million is a projected year-end annual run rate. They describe different things and should not be treated as interchangeable measures of funding, revenue, or completed deal terms.

What remains unconfirmed?
In the cited September 11, 2026 report, the prospective financing’s closing status, final valuation, and amount were unresolved. The sources cited here also do not establish a Mecka–NVIDIA investment or partnership. A later dated statement from Mecka, Sequoia, or NVIDIA could change what is known, but the reported financing alone does not confirm those details.
