Start with the two eligibility checks
Identify the exact graphics device
Find the full model name of the handheld or laptop and the graphics device reported by the operating system or AMD software. The broad descriptions “AMD handheld,” “AMD laptop” or “Radeon” are not enough to confirm support. AMD describes FSR availability as product-selective, and its current FSR page describes FSR Redstone for Radeon RX 9000 Series graphics in select games. That information does not establish support across AMD handheld processors or laptop integrated graphics. Check AMD’s current FSR information for the exact product before treating a missing option as a fault.

Verify the game and its implementation
FSR must be integrated by the game developer; support for one FSR generation does not establish support for another. Check the exact game’s current feature information and its graphics settings for the relevant FSR option. If the game does not implement the version you want, a driver update or system toggle cannot add that in-game implementation.

- Update through the appropriate support channel. Check for a current graphics driver and AMD software version for your device. For an OEM laptop or handheld, consult its maker’s support route where appropriate. There is no single driver version or installation method established here for every AMD handheld and laptop, so use the instructions for your exact model.
- Confirm which upscaling feature you selected. Radeon Super Resolution (RSR) is a distinct driver-based option, not FSR 4. AMD says RSR works on qualifying Radeon hardware when a game runs in exclusive full-screen mode; it may be useful with games that lack native FSR. See AMD’s RSR requirements before testing it.
- Check what HYPR-RX actually enables for that title. HYPR-RX can activate driver and in-game features depending on whether a game is HYPR-Tune optimized. Some titles may automatically use supported FSR 1, 2 or 3 Quality modes. Enabling HYPR-RX does not universally turn on FSR 4. Check AMD’s HYPR-RX information and the game’s own settings.
- Keep Windows Auto SR separate from AMD FSR. Microsoft documents Automatic Super Resolution as a separate feature with its own platform and game/runtime limitations. It cannot be assumed to resolve AMD FSR 4 eligibility. Check Microsoft’s Auto SR requirements if that is the feature you meant to use.
Choose an alternative only after checking its requirements
If the game lacks the desired FSR 4 option, compare the available choices by the hardware they require, whether the game integrates them, whether processing is game-integrated or driver-based, and each mode’s specific requirements. RSR is one driver-based alternative, but it has its own hardware and exclusive-full-screen conditions. Do not assume that RSR, another FSR generation and FSR 4 will work with the same games or produce equivalent image quality.

Gather details if the problem remains
A useful support report identifies the configuration and the precise symptom rather than saying only “FSR 4 does not work.” Record:
- Full handheld or laptop model and reported GPU name.
- Windows version and AMD driver/AMD software version.
- Game name and version, and graphics API if known.
- The exact setting or feature you tried to enable.
- What happened, including any error message or visible artifact.
Those details help distinguish unsupported hardware or missing game integration from a device-specific driver issue. Requirements and supported-game information can change, so verify current AMD and game documentation alongside the device maker’s support page.
