The MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 is the newer flagship generation; the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 remains notable for its codec support and documented features. ACCENTUM True Wireless is another wireless choice, while the IE 200 is designed for wired monitoring and recording rather than everyday Bluetooth convenience.
There is no established universal winner across these models. Choose by connection type, fit, noise control, device compatibility and intended use—not by a blanket claim that one sounds best for everyone.

Which Sennheiser in-ear model suits your needs?
| Model | Best fit for | What stands out | Important trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 | Listeners seeking the newer premium true-wireless generation | What Hi-Fi? lists Bluetooth 6.0, ANC and support for several codecs in its 2026 review specification summary. | The review describes only a modest comfort change from MTW4 and notes that strenuous movement may loosen the seal. Verify current availability and exact regional listing. |
| MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 | Premium true-wireless listening with broad codec support | Sennheiser lists hybrid ANC, a 7 mm TrueResponse dynamic driver, multiple codecs, Qi and USB-C charging, and fit accessories. | Battery runtime depends on listening conditions; codec benefits also depend on the source device. |
| ACCENTUM True Wireless | A wireless alternative with ANC and app-based sound controls | Sennheiser lists hybrid ANC, four ear-tip sizes, app EQ and sound personalization, and Qi and USB-C charging. | Auracast is available through a firmware update; listed battery figures are manufacturer ratings, not comparative test results. |
| IE 200 | Wired monitoring, recording or performing | RTINGS identifies it for low-latency use in those settings. | It does not provide Bluetooth or wireless ANC, so it is not a direct replacement for true-wireless earbuds. |
What to know about the wireless options
MOMENTUM True Wireless 5: the newer flagship generation
What Hi-Fi? identifies the MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 as the newer model after the MTW4. Its 2026 review specification summary lists Bluetooth 6.0 and reports battery figures of six hours in the earbuds and 20–25 hours total with the case when ANC is on. With ANC off, the review lists 12 hours in the earbuds plus 40 hours from the case. These are figures reported in the review’s specification summary, not independent head-to-head measurements across the models in this guide. Read What Hi-Fi?’s review.
Comfort remains individual: the review says the change from MTW4 is not large and that strenuous movement may loosen the seal. If you plan to use earbuds during exercise or other vigorous activity, check fit during that movement rather than assuming a secure seal.
#1 Best Overall
- Uncompressed and balanced Sennheiser sound, so you will hear every detail of your music.
- Product Note : If the size of the earbud tips does not match the size of your ear canals or the headset is not worn properly in your ears, you may not obtain the correct sound qualities or call performance. Change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears
- In line one button smart remote makes it convenient to play and pause music and take calls without needing to fumble with your phone.
- In ear design creates a secure fit for reduction of ambient noise so you can relax and focus on the music.
- Three ear tip sizes (S, M, L) provide an individualized fit for personal comfort and ambient noise isolation.
MOMENTUM True Wireless 4: codecs, fit accessories and battery conditions
Sennheiser lists SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX Adaptive/Lossless and LC3 support, hybrid ANC, and a 7 mm TrueResponse dynamic transducer. Your phone, computer or other source must support a codec for you to use it; a codec list alone does not guarantee that every device will connect using every option. The earbuds support USB-C and Qi charging. Sennheiser also says an eight-minute USB-C charge can provide about 1.5 hours of playback. See Sennheiser’s MTW4 specifications.
Sennheiser rates MTW4 for up to 7.5 hours per charge with ANC and transparency off, and up to 7.0 hours with ANC on; its listed total is up to 30 hours with the charging case. The FAQ’s stated test conditions include AAC, mid-level volume, and ANC and transparency off. Treat these as manufacturer ratings under specified conditions, not as a guarantee of the runtime you will get or as a direct comparison with another model’s measured battery life.

- Note : If the size of the earbud tips does not match the size of your ear canals or the headset is not worn properly in your ears, you may not obtain the correct sound qualities or call performance. Change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ear
- Innovative, dynamic 10-mm broadband transducer for powerful, precise monitoring
- Dynamic driver system reduces acoustic stress factors through homogenous, distortion-free reproduction
- Secure fit, high level of wearing comfort: an innovative single driver design allows for a slim and ergonomic construction
- Excellent shielding thanks to an optimized earpiece and flexible silicone and foam tip
Fit can affect both comfort and listening. MTW4 includes four ear-tip sizes and three ear-fin sizes, and the app offers a fit test. Try the available tips and fins and check that each earbud seals comfortably; a fit test cannot establish that the fit will suit every ear or remain comfortable throughout a long session.
ACCENTUM True Wireless: an alternative with app controls
Sennheiser lists Bluetooth 5.3, hybrid ANC, four ear-tip sizes, app EQ and sound personalization, and support for Qi and USB-C charging. Its product page rates playback at up to eight hours from the earbuds plus 20 hours from the case, or up to 28 hours total. These are manufacturer figures, not results from a standardized comparison with MTW4 or MTW5. Auracast is available via firmware update, so check that the relevant update is installed if that feature matters to you. See Sennheiser’s ACCENTUM True Wireless specifications.

When a wired IE 200 makes more sense
Choose the IE 200 when your priority is a wired in-ear monitor for recording, monitoring or performing, where low-latency listening matters. RTINGS identifies it for those uses. It does not have the wireless ANC and Bluetooth convenience offered by the true-wireless models, so consider it a different tool rather than a like-for-like everyday-earbud choice. See RTINGS’ IE 200 coverage.
How to choose before buying
- Decide on wired or wireless. For monitoring, recording or performing, consider the IE 200. For portable everyday use, compare the true-wireless options.
- Choose which wireless features matter. If you want the newer premium generation, look at MTW5. If codec support and fit accessories matter, MTW4 has documented support for several codecs and includes ear tips and fins. ACCENTUM True Wireless offers ANC, app-based sound controls and a four-size tip set.
- Check device compatibility. Confirm which Bluetooth codecs your source actually supports before treating MTW4’s codec list as a deciding advantage.
- Test fit and seal. Use the provided tips and, for MTW4, fins as applicable. Check comfort and stability in the settings where you will wear the earbuds.
- Compare local listings at purchase time. Prices and stock vary by region and date; the available evidence does not establish a current, comparable price or value ranking.
- Check the support period if long-term software support matters. Sennheiser’s support-period table lists dates for MTW4 and ACCENTUM True Wireless, but those dates are not warranty promises or estimates of physical lifespan.
Published support-period dates
Sennheiser’s support-period table, updated in 2026, lists active security-update support for MTW4 through 6 January 2029 and ACCENTUM True Wireless through 30 April 2029. These are support-period dates only; they do not state how long a pair will physically last or extend its warranty. Check Sennheiser’s support-period table.
