Start by measuring the room and outlet route, then choose the desk size and plan the cable paths before placing equipment.
Measure the room before choosing a desk
Check the complete working footprint, not just the desk’s listed dimensions. Mark the desk location with tape and make sure there is room to sit, move the chair, and reach the desk and nearby storage. Then locate a wall outlet and trace a practical route from it to the desk’s power leg.

- Available width and depth: Leave space for nearby doors, drawers, and walkways.
- Chair clearance: Check that the chair can move in and out without hitting a wall or furniture.
- Outlet access: Confirm that the desk can reach an outlet without leaving a cable across a walkway.
- Equipment footprint: Account for monitors, a laptop or tower, and frequently used accessories.
There is no universal small-room layout: whether either desk size fits depends on your room, furniture, and working position.
Choose between the 1.5 m and 1.7 m desk
Secretlab’s US product page lists two MAGNUS Pro sizes. The larger option offers more desktop area but also takes up more room; that is a direct inference from the published dimensions, not a tested small-space recommendation.

Plan equipment positions before routing cables
Place your display or displays, laptop or tower, and regularly used peripherals where you expect to use them. This shows which connections need to reach the tray and which cords will need to move with the desktop.

- Check the actual dimensions of your equipment and the space available on the desk.
- If considering a monitor arm or PC mount, confirm its specific compatibility and clearance with your desk and device. Accessory options do not establish fit for every third-party device.
- Keep plugs and adapters accessible enough to disconnect or service them without dismantling the setup.
Route power and device cables through the desk
The MAGNUS Pro has a full-length cable tray beneath a hinged rear cover and an integrated power supply column. Secretlab describes the column as a “World’s first fully-integrated power supply column”; that is the manufacturer’s promotional wording, not an independently verified comparison. The desk still needs a wall connection.
- Set up the power connection: Position the desk so the power column can reach the intended wall outlet along a safe route.
- Place the power strip and adapters: Put them in the tray where appropriate, keeping connections reachable. The available product materials do not establish a specific outlet count or tray capacity.
- Connect the equipment: Gather the power and data leads according to where each device sits, with enough slack for desk movement.
- Close the rear cover: Feed the planned runs through the opening so the desktop stays visually tidy while cables remain accessible.
For the exposed runs, Secretlab’s manual says cables can be routed along the side frames. Magnetic cable anchors can help keep leads in position beneath the desktop or near the rear cover; the manual lists these anchors as a separate purchase, not an included item. Check cable slack through the desk’s height range
Before regular use, raise and lower the desk while watching each cable path. Confirm that nothing pulls taut, catches on the frame, or gets pinched at the rear cover. Adjust the routes or add slack as needed, while keeping loose cable away from the floor and moving parts.
Secretlab lists a height range of 25.6–49.2 in and three custom presets on its US product page. These are product specifications, not a determination that a particular height is ergonomically suitable for you.

Account for a tower mounted beneath the desk
If you use the separately available Secretlab Premium PC Mount with a tower taller than 44 cm, the assembly guide recommends saving 78 cm as the minimum-height preset to avoid the tower colliding with the floor. Follow that manual guidance and check physical clearance in your own room and setup before operating the desk.
