To save a reusable phrase on Samsung Keyboard, create a Text shortcut: open Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings > More typing options > Text shortcuts, tap +, enter a short trigger and its full phrase, then tap Add. When you type the trigger later, tap the expanded phrase in the suggestion bar to insert it. If you only want the keyboard to remember an unusual word, type it and tap the space bar; Samsung Keyboard may offer it as a suggestion next time.
How to save a phrase with a Samsung Keyboard text shortcut
Text shortcuts are explicit trigger-to-phrase pairs. You choose both the short text and the longer text it should suggest. - Open Settings.
- Tap General management.
- Tap Samsung Keyboard settings.
- Tap More typing options, then Text shortcuts.
- Tap +.
- Enter a short trigger and the phrase you want it to expand to, then tap Add.
- In a text field using Samsung Keyboard, type the trigger. When the expanded phrase appears in the predictive text bar, tap it to insert it.
The trigger does not necessarily replace itself automatically: Samsung’s instructions say to select the expanded phrase from the suggestion bar. The feature is intended for phrases you reuse, such as a longer sign-off or a frequently entered detail. Samsung US keyboard settings guidance

If you want a name or uncommon term to appear as a future suggestion rather than expand into a longer phrase, type the word and tap the space bar. Samsung UK says the keyboard may then suggest that word on a later occasion. This learned suggestion is not a manually defined shortcut: you do not set a separate trigger and expansion. Text shortcut or learned word: which should you use?

How to remove saved words and shortcuts
Remove one learned word
Type until the word appears in the suggestion bar. Press and hold that suggestion, then confirm removal when prompted. Samsung UK personalization guidance
Remove a text shortcut
Return to Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings > More typing options > Text shortcuts and delete the shortcut entry you no longer need.

Clear personalized predictions
Samsung UK describes Reset to default settings > Erase personalised predictions for clearing learned personalization. Other Samsung guidance uses wording such as Clear personalised data; the exact label depends on the software version. Check the confirmation carefully, since this is broader than deleting one suggestion. Samsung UK instructions
If the Text shortcuts setting is missing
The route and labels are not identical on every Galaxy phone or tablet. Samsung notes that some options may be unavailable on older devices or operating systems. Look in Samsung Keyboard settings for Text shortcuts or Smart typing; on some devices you can open keyboard settings from the keyboard’s settings icon. These instructions apply to Samsung Keyboard, not a third-party keyboard app. If a different keyboard is active, its settings and shortcut features may follow a different route.

Predictive text, auto replace, text corrections, and emoji or sticker suggestions are separate Smart typing features. Predictive text offers likely words as you type; auto replace can change a typed word, with the change accepted using the space bar or Enter. For a custom trigger that offers a specific longer phrase, use Text shortcuts instead. Samsung Canada’s overview of keyboard settings
