First check whether the image appears on the live page. If it does, determine whether it is missing only from the saved HTML, whether you need to extract it as a separate file, or whether the page itself failed to download. Those are different problems, and Save Page WE’s options address only some of them.
Identify which image-saving problem you have
- The image is missing on the live site: troubleshoot the site or browser display first; Save Page WE cannot capture an image the page did not display.
- The image is visible live but missing from the saved page: try the extension’s other save method and review its resource-loading controls.
- The image is visible in the saved page, but you want its file: use Save Page WE’s extraction command.
- No saved HTML file appears: check browser download handling separately from image capture.
Save Page WE is intended to save a page as one HTML file representing the page as currently displayed. Its listings document multiple save methods, resource-loading settings, and an option to extract media from saved pages. They do not establish one universal cause for missing images. If the image is missing on the live page
- Reload the page and wait for the image to appear before saving.
- If it remains absent or broken, test the page in another tab or browser session and check whether browser settings or extensions block or modify content.
- In Firefox, consider whether cached data or an extension could be affecting the page. Mozilla lists these among possible reasons websites look wrong; its troubleshooting guide is at Websites look wrong or appear differently than they should.
Do not treat this as a Save Page WE capture failure until the image displays correctly on the page itself.

Try the other save method
Save Page WE offers more than one save method, and its extension listing says the newer method can save more pages. Try the alternative method on the affected page, then open the resulting HTML file and check again. This is a test, not a guarantee: the listings do not say that one method works for every site.

Review resource-loading controls
Check the extension’s options for controls related to loading resources, including maximum loading times for the page and individual resources where available. A page that is still loading, or a resource that takes longer than the configured limit, may not be ready when capture occurs. Adjusting a limit may help with a slow page, but cannot ensure that every image can be retrieved.

Isolate Firefox add-on conflicts
Firefox Troubleshoot Mode temporarily disables extensions, uses the default theme, and turns off hardware acceleration. If the image saves correctly in that mode, re-enable extensions and restore other changed factors systematically to identify what caused the difference. If the image appears within the saved page, but you need its file separately, use Save Page WE’s Extract Image/Audio/Video context-menu command on the saved page. This extracts a resource from a saved page; it does not repair an image that was never included in the saved HTML. If the saved HTML file does not download
A missing file is a download-handling problem, not necessarily an image-capture problem. Check the browser’s configured download folder and whether it prompts you to choose a location. In Firefox, Mozilla’s guidance is to check the download folder and download settings: What to do if you can’t download or save files.
The Firefox Save Page WE listing also notes possible interaction with other download extensions. If the issue is a changed filename, it suggests reinstalling the extension or trying the old save method.
