Samsung’s work for Apple spans a confirmed chip-making effort in Austin and reported supply of OLED panels and other iPhone components. The evidence does not show that Samsung makes every iPhone screen or Apple’s current A-series processors, and it does not disclose current model-by-model allocations.
What parts does Samsung make for Apple?
The clearest current official detail is Apple’s August 6, 2025 announcement that it is working with Samsung at Samsung’s Austin, Texas, fab on new chip-making technology. Apple says the facility will supply chips for Apple products, including iPhones, but does not identify the chip type, device generation, production schedule or volume. Apple’s announcement therefore supports saying Samsung is involved in making chips for Apple products—not that it is fabricating a particular processor.

Separate reporting describes Samsung Display as an OLED panel supplier and Samsung Electro-Mechanics as a supplier of certain components used in iPhone production. These are distinct Samsung companies with different reported roles, not one interchangeable parts division.
Samsung’s documented and reported roles
| Samsung entity | Part or activity | What the evidence establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung’s Austin fab | Chip-making technology and chips | Apple’s August 2025 announcement says the facility will supply chips for Apple products, including iPhones. Chip type, model, schedule and volume are not stated. |
| Samsung Display | OLED panels | An April 3, 2024 report identifies Samsung Display, alongside LG Display, as an Apple OLED panel supplier. It does not specify current model allocations or Samsung’s share. |
| Samsung Electro-Mechanics | Multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) and FC-BGA semiconductor substrates | The April 3, 2024 report identifies these as supplied for iPhone production. Current model allocations and volumes are not stated. |
The non-chip categories in the table come from Asia Business Daily’s April 3, 2024 report. They are category-level reporting, not a current bill of materials for a particular iPhone.

Does Samsung make iPhone screens?
Samsung Display is reported to supply OLED panels to Apple, so the answer is yes at the supplier-category level. The cited report also names LG Display, and it does not say how Apple divides orders between suppliers or which current models use panels from either company. It does not support claims that Samsung makes every iPhone OLED screen, that a particular iPhone model has a Samsung panel, or that Samsung has an exclusive supply arrangement.
Does Samsung make Apple’s iPhone chips?
Apple says chips made using the Austin facility’s new technology will supply Apple products, including iPhones. Its announcement does not identify those chips as A-series application processors or give enough detail to name any specific chip. The accurate description is that Samsung is participating in a chip-making effort for Apple devices; the particular chip and its role in an iPhone remain unspecified in that announcement.

Apple also named Samsung among the initial partners in its American Manufacturing Program on March 26, 2026. That announcement confirms Samsung’s inclusion in the program, but does not specify which components Samsung will deliver. Apple’s partner announcement should not be treated as a parts list.

What Apple’s supplier list confirms—and what it does not
Apple’s FY2022 supplier list includes Samsung Electronics Company Limited and names manufacturing locations in China mainland, South Korea, Texas in the United States, and Vietnam. The supplier list confirms participation and locations within that fiscal-year list; it does not map a factory to a specific component or establish present-day allocation. It also should not be used to collapse Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display and Samsung Electro-Mechanics into one entity.

What remains unknown
- Which exact chips Samsung’s Austin effort will produce for Apple, and when production will begin.
- Which current Apple models receive Samsung-supplied OLED panels or the reported capacitors and substrates.
- Samsung’s share of Apple’s orders, component volumes and commercial terms.
Apple’s general supply-chain overview provides context about its supplier network, but does not add Samsung-specific component details. Without model-level disclosures, claims about current allocations or Samsung’s share would go beyond what these sources establish.
