On a supported Samsung Galaxy, swipe down to open Quick settings, tap Screen recorder, choose an audio option, then tap Start recording. If the button is missing, add it from the Quick settings edit controls. The exact options depend on your device and software.
Start a screen recording

Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick settings, also called the Quick panel. Swipe down again if you need to expand it.

Tap Screen recorder. If you do not see it, open the panel’s edit controls and add the Screen recorder button.

Choose an audio option offered on your device. Samsung’s US support guide lists None, Media, and Media and mic.

Tap Start recording. After the countdown, use the floating controls to pause or stop.
Choose audio, quality, and on-screen controls
On supported models, Screen recorder settings let you choose recording quality, adjust the selfie-video overlay, show taps and touches, and select a save location. Samsung’s US guide lists High (1080p), Medium (720p), and Low (480p); these are available settings, not a guarantee that every Galaxy offers all three. Check the controls on your own device.

Include your voice or show your face
If available, select Media and mic to record media audio along with microphone input. The front-camera/person control can add a selfie-video overlay on supported devices. Samsung says the Galaxy Tab A8 does not support this overlay in Screen recorder.

Annotate while recording
The pencil control lets you draw on the screen during a recording. Samsung notes that while drawing mode is active, you cannot interact with games, videos, or navigation options as usual.

Find the recording
Recordings generally appear in the Gallery app. If you do not see the video there, open My Files and look under Internal storage > DCIM. The exact folder and save-location controls can vary by device and software.
Check whether your Galaxy supports Screen recorder
Samsung describes Screen recorder as available on phones and tablets running One UI 2 or later, but cautions that availability varies by model. Its US support list includes Galaxy S10 through S25, Note10 and Note20, Z Fold and Z Flip families, Tab S6 through Tab S11, Tab A8, A9+ and A11+, and selected A-series devices, including A25 5G, A35, A54 5G, A53 5G, A52 5G, and A32 5G. Regional lists differ and model names alone do not guarantee support. Check Samsung’s guidance for your region and the Screen recorder tile on your specific device.

Know what Screen recorder cannot capture
Samsung US Support states: “Screen recorder will not record phone calls, VOIP calls, or video calls.” Some apps may also block recording because of copyright restrictions, so a black screen or missing audio can be an app restriction rather than a recorder fault.

Duration and file-size limits depend on software
Samsung Gulf’s guidance says Android 10 with One UI 2.5 is limited to one hour or 4 GB. For Android 11 with One UI 3.0 or later, Samsung says there is no file-size or recording-time limit. If the Screen recorder button is missing

Expand Quick settings and check its edit controls; the tile may simply not be in the visible panel.

Check your exact Galaxy model and software version against Samsung’s regional support guidance. Availability varies by model even within a device family.

If the tile is present but recording fails in one app, that app may restrict capture of protected content.
