To change the basic color look on a supported Samsung Galaxy, open Settings > Display > Screen mode and choose Vivid or Natural. For a yellow cast, grayscale, or unusual dimness, check the separate display and accessibility settings that may be changing what you see. Labels and available controls vary by model and software version.
Choose Vivid or Natural
Samsung describes Vivid as optimizing color range, saturation, and sharpness; Natural gives the screen a more natural tone. The choice is a matter of preference, and some third-party apps may not be compatible with Vivid mode.

- Open Settings.
- Tap Display, then Screen mode.
- Select Vivid for a more saturated appearance or Natural for a more subdued, natural tone, if both choices are available.
Samsung’s Screen mode guide documents these options. Menu names and capabilities can differ between Galaxy models and software versions.

Fine-tune color balance when the controls are available
On compatible devices, select Vivid to access White balance. Moving the control toward Cool increases the blue tone; moving it toward Warm increases the red tone. Some models also provide Advanced settings for separate red, green, and blue adjustments.

These extra controls are not universal. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 instructions say Natural mode, Eye comfort shield, or Adaptive color tone can hide White balance and Vividness controls on that device. If a control is missing, check the selected mode and those display features rather than assuming every Galaxy has the same adjustment options.
Fix a yellow or unusually warm screen
Check Settings > Display > Eye comfort shield. Turn it off temporarily to see whether it is causing the warmer appearance. Samsung says Eye comfort shield can adjust screen color; on devices that offer scheduling, it may change the display according to time of day. Samsung Canada documents Adaptive and Custom behavior, with Custom allowing a schedule and color-temperature adjustment. Availability and labels depend on the device and software; Samsung describes the feature on devices running One UI 3.1 or later in its Canadian support guide.

If Eye comfort shield is unavailable or cannot be enabled, Samsung notes that Color correction or Color inversion may conflict with it. Review Settings > Accessibility > Vision enhancements and turn off a conflicting option only if you do not need it.
Check color filters and automatic color changes
- Colors look tinted or unnatural: Open Settings > Accessibility > Vision enhancements and check Color correction and Color filter. Samsung describes Color filter as applying a filter across the screen and Color correction as a feature intended to help users distinguish colors.
- Color changes with the surrounding light: Look for Adaptive color tone under Display settings and switch it off briefly to compare, if the setting is available. Samsung’s US troubleshooting guide says the feature adjusts color and white balance in response to ambient lighting and identifies availability beginning with the Galaxy S24 series.

Separate dimness from color problems
If the display looks too dark rather than tinted, check Settings > Accessibility > Vision enhancements > Extra dim. This setting reduces brightness; changing Screen mode will not address it. Samsung includes the Extra dim check in its troubleshooting steps.
Restore color if the screen has turned grayscale
On some Galaxy phones, a Sleep mode routine can apply grayscale. Samsung Hong Kong’s regional instructions say to check Settings > Modes and Routines > Sleep > Other actions and remove the grayscale action if it is enabled. The precise path may differ by region, model, or software version; consult the Sleep mode settings on your phone. See Samsung’s Hong Kong grayscale guidance.

When the settings do not match these steps
Samsung warns that feature names, layouts, and availability vary by model. If a menu is missing, use the Settings search field to look for the feature name—such as Screen mode, Eye comfort shield, or Extra dim—and check your model’s support information. If the display still looks wrong after disabling the relevant filters and modes, the settings guide alone cannot establish whether the cause is hardware; seek model-specific support rather than applying an unrelated color adjustment.
