Samsung announced an expanded One UI 9 rollout on September 16, 2026, starting with the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. The update had already debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, and Z Flip8; Samsung says other eligible Galaxy devices will follow gradually. The release adds features for video, daily information, device care, translation, scanning, recording, and privacy—but availability depends on the model and, for some features, region, settings, or compatible hardware.
When will my Galaxy get One UI 9?
Samsung’s September 16 announcement named the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra as the first devices in the expanded rollout. One UI 9 had already reached the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, and Z Flip8. Samsung says more eligible Galaxy devices will receive it gradually, without setting out a universal date for every model or market. Samsung Mobile Press

Rollout timing can also vary by region and carrier. On September 28, Android Central reported that Samsung support pages had been updated for S26 builds on T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, and US Cellular, and that unlocked U.S. devices appeared to be starting to receive the update. That is a dated report about specific U.S. distribution, not confirmation that every S26—or any other Galaxy model—has it. Android Central’s September 28 report

- Open Settings.
- Tap Software update.
- Tap Download and install.
If no update appears, that does not by itself mean your phone is ineligible: Samsung’s rollout is phased, and availability depends on the device and distribution schedule. Android Central reported the initial stable S26 rollout in South Korea on September 16 and said expansion to other regions was underway. Android Central’s September 16 report

What’s new in One UI 9?
Samsung describes the update as a set of features aimed at everyday tasks. The functions below are not guaranteed to appear on every Galaxy phone: model compatibility, market, permissions, connected services, language, and settings can affect availability. Samsung’s announcements provide feature details, not independent measurements of speed, battery life, reliability, or user benefit. Samsung Mobile Press · Samsung Newsroom U.S.
Video and creative tools
- My FanCam can track a selected person in recorded video and reframe the footage as that person moves. Samsung says it requires a Samsung Account login, may not be available for every video, and cannot track when there is no subject to follow; accuracy is not guaranteed.
- Creative Studio can offer event-related prompts for image generation. Whether auto-suggestions appear can depend on settings and permissions.
More customizable daily information
Now Brief adds Generative and Editable Cards that let users choose content across areas such as health, weather, and video. Some information depends on selected apps, connectivity, consent, and Personal Data Intelligence settings, so the cards’ content can vary by user and setup.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.
- Camera: 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro). Battery: 5000 mAh, non-removable | A power adapter is NOT included.
Device care and contextual suggestions
- Warranty and Care brings warranty checks, self-diagnostics, repair estimates, Samsung Care+ management, and service booking into Settings. Menu options and availability can differ by region.
- Now Nudge can suggest context-aware actions, such as retrieving reservation details or saving a location shared in a conversation. Suggestions depend on the relevant context and settings.
Translation, scanning, and recording
- Interpreter gains Thread View and faster playback in Conversation Mode. Compatible Galaxy Buds can support quicker playback; Buds are optional, not a requirement to install One UI 9.
- Document Scan improves capture of curved book pages and papers with folded corners. Compatible devices with large screens also get optimized views.
- Voice Recorder can format summaries with headings and tables.
Security and privacy notices
- Security Brief surfaces notices related to malware, apps from unknown sources, and unnecessary permissions.
- Privacy Alerts use on-device AI to flag potential privacy risks, including background access to permissions. Samsung cautions that an alert may not account for every relevant factor; the feature’s availability varies by device and market.
- Scam Detection is expanding to additional markets and languages. Samsung’s U.S. announcement specifically names Japan, Canada, and India in a footnote. These features are alerts and protections, not a guarantee that every threat will be detected.
Does every feature work on every Galaxy phone?
No. Samsung’s general rollout announcement does not establish that every feature is available on every eligible device. Some features require particular hardware; others can depend on a Samsung Account, permissions, connectivity, compatible apps, language, region, or user settings. Samsung’s Privacy Alerts compatibility information applies to that feature specifically, not to the full list of phones eligible for One UI 9.
Check the update through your phone’s software-update settings, then consult Samsung’s model- and region-specific support information for feature availability. A feature described for One UI 9 should not be treated as a promise that it will appear on your particular device.
