To transfer a Samsung Note to an SD card, open the note, tap More options (the three vertical dots), choose Save as file, select a format, then choose the card in the save-location picker if it appears. This works only on a device that supports removable storage and exposes the card as a destination.

Which export format should you choose?
Samsung documents these export options, although the choices shown can vary. Pick based on how you plan to use the copy:
- Samsung Notes file: A copy in Samsung Notes’ app-specific format, suitable when you want to retain a Notes-formatted version.
- PDF: A document-style copy for viewing and sharing. Samsung notes that a PDF imported into Notes cannot be edited as a note, though you can draw on or annotate it.
- Word: A useful choice when you want to work with text. Samsung says handwritten notes exported to Word can be represented as text, an image, or both.
- PowerPoint: Choose this when you need a slide-format file.
- Image: A visual copy of the note.
- Text: A plain-text version when you mainly need the written content.

What to do if the SD card is missing from the picker
A missing card option does not mean your notes are missing. Samsung’s documented export workflow does not establish that all Galaxy phones and tablets support SD cards or expose them as a save destination.

- Make sure the card is inserted and mounted, then reopen the save dialog.
- If the card still is not listed, save to an available device folder instead. You can also use cloud options when you need access beyond that device.
Exporting a file is different from syncing notes
Save as file creates a separate copy in a chosen format and location. Samsung Notes also supports synchronization with a Samsung account or Samsung Cloud, which serves the different purpose of keeping notes available across supported devices. Samsung Business Insights describes OneDrive and Google Drive as destinations for exported files as well. Choose export for a portable file copy; choose synchronization or cloud storage when your goal is access across devices or online storage.
