On most Samsung Galaxy phones, open Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering > Mobile Hotspot, then open the hotspot’s network details or configuration area to view its password. Labels and layout can differ by model, carrier, and software version.
Where to find your Samsung mobile hotspot password
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
- Tap Mobile Hotspot.
- Open the network information, details, or configuration area. Look for Network name or Password to view the hotspot password.
Samsung says the password can be viewed or changed in the hotspot’s network settings. The exact screen may differ. See Samsung’s connection options instructions and Samsung’s mobile hotspot guide.

Share the connection by password or QR code
Give the password to the person connecting, who can then select your hotspot’s network name on their device and enter it. Some Galaxy phones also offer a QR code for joining without manually typing the password. Samsung Canada cautions that someone who obtains the QR code can determine the network password, so share the code only with people you intend to connect. See Samsung Canada’s connection guidance.

What if the setting or password is missing?
The menu labels do not match
Samsung notes that available options vary by device and software version; its Mexico support guidance also identifies the service provider as a factor. Check the current software and your carrier’s device-specific guidance if the menu path differs. The instructions are for locating the setting and do not establish that every mobile plan permits tethering.

You cannot find the password field
On the Mobile Hotspot screen, look for a network details or configuration control, then check the Network name section for the password setting. If the field is not available, consult the Samsung support page for your model or ask your carrier whether it restricts hotspot service.
A device rejects the password
If you changed the hotspot password, a device that saved the old one may need to reconnect using the new password. Make sure you are entering the hotspot password—not the Galaxy lock-screen PIN, Samsung account password, or password for another Wi-Fi network.

One-time hotspot passwords are not available on every Galaxy
Samsung India documents an optional One-time password feature on supported Galaxy phones: turn on Mobile Hotspot, open the one-time-password option, enable it, and share the displayed password or QR code. Samsung says toggling the hotspot off and back on generates a new one-time password. Availability varies by model and software version; see Samsung India’s one-time password instructions.
