Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallTo reach frequently used things with fewer steps, put your most-used app shortcuts in the Home screen’s Favorite apps bar, group related secondary apps in named folders, and use widgets or Edge panels only for information and actions you check often. Leave occasional apps in the Apps screen, where search and sorting make them easier to find. The best arrangement depends on your routine; Samsung documents these features but does not publish a general figure for taps or time saved.
Start with the things you reach for most
Think about the actions you repeat—opening a messaging app, checking a calendar, or launching navigation—rather than trying to place every installed app on the Home screen. Put the few apps you open most in the bottom Favorite apps bar. Samsung says it appears at the bottom of the Home screen and supports up to five app shortcuts; a folder can group additional favorites. Samsung’s shortcut guide explains the bar and app shortcuts.

A shortcut is not the app itself. Removing an icon from the Home screen removes that shortcut; the installed app remains available in the Apps screen. This distinction lets you simplify the Home screen without uninstalling anything. Samsung’s instructions and available options can vary by model, software version, and wireless provider. See Samsung’s Home screen organization instructions.
Group related apps in folders
Use folders for apps that belong together but do not all need their own one-step shortcut. Categories such as “Travel,” “Work,” or “Bills” are useful if they match how you look for those apps; they are examples, not required Samsung categories.

- On the Home screen or Apps screen, touch and hold an app shortcut.
- Drag it over another app shortcut and release to create a folder.
- Name the folder, then add other related apps by dragging them into it.
Samsung documents this drag-to-combine flow, but folder behavior and layout options can differ across software versions. If the gesture does not work, check the instructions for your Galaxy model. Samsung Canada’s app-management guide covers folders, sorting, and search.
Use widgets for information or controls you need at a glance
A widget can show information or provide controls on the Home screen without requiring you to open its associated app. It is most useful for something you check or change frequently; otherwise, it takes up space without improving access.

It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.

- Touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen.
- Choose Widgets, select a widget, then add it to the screen.
- Move or resize it to suit the layout, where those options are available on your software version.
Samsung’s One UI 7 guide documents adding, moving, and resizing widgets. Widget stacks are a separate, version-specific feature: Samsung describes stacking same-size widgets on its One UI 5.1.1 page. Do not assume stacking is available or works the same way on every Galaxy phone. One UI 7 widget guidance and Samsung’s One UI 5.1.1 feature page describe those capabilities.
Keep occasional apps in the Apps screen
Apps you use infrequently do not need a place on the Home screen. Find them in the Apps screen by searching all or part of an app’s name, or browse using the available sort order. Samsung says the search bar may appear at the top or bottom, depending on the device and software.

Alphabetical order is useful when you know an app’s name; a custom order can help if you prefer to arrange apps in a way that suits your own browsing habits. Samsung’s One UI 7 guidance notes that alphabetical Apps screen browsing scrolls vertically in that version, and its search bar may be at the bottom. These are One UI 7 details, not universal instructions for every Galaxy. Samsung’s app-management guide covers search and sorting; its One UI 7 Home screen changes page describes that version’s behavior.
Consider an Edge panel for access while another app is open
An Edge panel can provide a swipe-accessible list of apps or tools while you are using another screen, so you do not have to return to the Home screen first. It is worth trying if you often switch to the same few apps mid-task. Add and reorder only items you actually use; skip it if the handle distracts you or the feature is unavailable on your device.

To manage panels, open the Edge panel handle, choose its settings, and edit the available panels and their contents. Exact labels and availability can vary by model and software. Samsung also notes that some downloadable panels may cost money, so check before adding one. Samsung’s Edge panel instructions cover adding, removing, and reordering panels; its One UI Home overview explains the feature.

If your needs shift by activity—such as work, study, or exercise—Samsung’s One UI 5.1.1 feature page describes Modes and Routines examples for those contexts. Treat this as an option to investigate on compatible software, not a guarantee that your Home screen layout will automatically change by context. The page documents examples, not universal availability or behavior. Samsung’s One UI 5.1.1 page provides the version-specific details.

Check the arrangement against your Galaxy’s software
Samsung’s organization steps can differ by wireless provider, model, and software version. One UI 7 includes Home screen changes such as adjustable app icon sizes and labels, grid and landscape behavior changes, and the Apps screen behavior described above. Those details should not be assumed on an earlier version or a later release without checking its guidance.
If a menu or gesture in these steps is missing, check your Galaxy’s One UI version and Samsung’s support page for that model, or search Settings for the feature name. Use your own routine as the test: an item belongs in a prominent spot if the arrangement makes it easier for you to reach than your current one. Samsung’s support pages describe capability, not a measured tap-saving result. Samsung Canada’s One UI 7 changes page lists version-specific Home screen behavior.
