On a supported Galaxy, go to Settings > Battery > Charging settings and turn on Fast charging for a compatible wired charger or Fast wireless charging for a compatible wireless pad. Enable only the type you use; enable both if you charge both ways. Menu names and availability vary by model and software.
Turn on the charging mode you use
- Unplug the phone if you need to change the setting. Samsung Canada notes that some models do not let you toggle fast charging while the phone is charging.
- Open Settings > Battery > Charging settings. On some devices, the menu may be named or arranged differently.
- Turn on Fast charging for a compatible wired charger, or Fast wireless charging for a compatible wireless pad.
- Connect the phone to the supported charger or pad. A standard computer or USB connection may not activate fast charging.
Samsung says that on the Galaxy S23 series and later, Fast charging and Super fast charging are combined under one Fast charging setting. Samsung Australia cautions that “Screens, settings, and menu options may vary depending on the device model and software version.” Samsung Australia’s instructions show the current general path.

Match the charger and cable to your Galaxy
The toggle does not make an unsupported phone, adapter, cable, or charging connection faster. Check the charging tier supported by your exact phone and choose accessories accordingly. Samsung’s US guidance gives these accessory recommendations; they are not a guarantee that every Galaxy supports the listed tier or will charge at that wattage.

Samsung says a 3A cable may work with a 25W adapter but can limit speed. A higher-wattage adapter alone does not establish that a phone can use a faster tier. See Samsung US charging troubleshooting and accessory guidance.

Regional support guidance is not identical: Samsung Canada describes wired fast charging with an adaptive fast-wired charger rated at 15W or higher, and fast wireless charging with a pad rated at 9W or higher. Those are thresholds in that page, not a promise that every Galaxy accepts those outputs or charges at the same rate. Samsung Canada’s guidance also notes that some models may not support fast charging.
When to leave a fast charging setting off
- You do not use that charging method: You can leave its toggle off. Wired and wireless settings control their respective methods.
- Your phone or accessory does not support the mode: The setting cannot add support that the device or charger lacks.
- You are charging from a computer or standard USB connection: Samsung says these connections may not provide fast charging.
- You want a lower maximum charge or scheduled protection: Use Battery protection settings; these are separate from fast charging.
If the Galaxy still charges slowly or stops early
Check these causes in order before assuming the fast charging toggle is faulty:

- Confirm the phone supports the mode. Model and software differences can affect both support and menu labels.
- Check the relevant toggle and charging equipment. Make sure the setting for wired or wireless charging is enabled and that the adapter, cable, or pad matches the phone’s supported tier.
- Reconnect the equipment securely. An incompletely seated or incompatible cable or adapter can prevent expected charging.
- Check the port and any moisture warning. Keep the port dry. For visible debris, Samsung advises avoiding metal objects and liquids when cleaning.
- Review Battery protection. The selected mode may intentionally stop charging below 100% or pause charging until the level falls.
- Run Samsung Members cable diagnostics or contact Samsung support if the issue persists. Samsung’s troubleshooting page covers these checks.
Battery protection is separate from fast charging
On Galaxy models running One UI 6.1 or later, Samsung Ireland describes three Battery protection modes. These settings control charging behavior and maximum level; they do not enable fast charging.
