To put Samsung Galaxy Buds in Bluetooth pairing mode, use the control for your model: newer models use a button on the charging case, while some older models use both earbuds’ touchpads. Then open Bluetooth settings on the phone, computer, TV, or other device you want to connect and select the Buds from its device list.
Start with the correct pairing step for your model
Samsung’s Hong Kong laptop guide, last updated May 13, 2026, gives different instructions by generation. The guide notes that support information can differ by product location and purchase region, so check the model name before choosing a method. Its menus and instructions may also vary by device model, software version, or app version.

Galaxy Buds4 and Buds4 Pro
- Place both earbuds in the charging case and open the lid.
- Hold the Connect button on the back of the case for more than three seconds.
- Look for the status light to flash blue, red, and green repeatedly. Samsung identifies this as the pairing-mode indicator.
Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro
- Place both earbuds in the case and open the lid.
- Hold the Connect button on the bottom of the case for more than three seconds.
- Look for repeated blue, red, and green status-light flashes.
Galaxy Buds2 and Buds2 Pro
- Place both earbuds in the case and open the lid.
- Touch and hold both earbuds at the same time for more than three seconds.
- Look for repeated blue, red, and green status-light flashes.
Galaxy Buds, Buds+, Buds Live, and Buds Pro
- Put both earbuds in your ears.
- Touch and hold both touchpads at the same time for more than three seconds.
- Listen for the sound that indicates Bluetooth pairing mode.
Samsung’s cited guide does not give a pairing-mode procedure for Galaxy Buds FE. Check the manual or Samsung support page for that specific model rather than assuming another generation’s gesture applies.

Select the Buds on the device you want to connect
Pairing mode makes the earbuds discoverable; it does not complete the connection by itself. On a Windows laptop, turn on Bluetooth, then go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device > Bluetooth. Select your Galaxy Buds from the available-device list and choose Connect. Samsung notes that menu names and layouts can vary with the device, software, or app version.

For a TV or another computer, enable Bluetooth and open that device’s list of connectable devices. If the Buds do not appear automatically, open the case with both earbuds inside and use the case’s Connect button for three seconds if your model has one. Select the Buds when they appear. Some devices may ask you to connect each earbud individually. Whether a connection works depends on the target device’s Bluetooth capability, operating system, software, and surrounding environment.
On compatible Samsung phones, opening the case may start pairing automatically. With other devices, select the Buds manually in Bluetooth settings. Samsung UK says that if the earbuds have not paired within three minutes after the case is opened, they stop actively pairing; close and reopen the case to begin again.

If your Galaxy Buds do not appear
- Check the model name and repeat its specific pairing gesture; the case-button position differs between Buds4 and Buds3, and older models may use touchpads instead.
- Confirm the model’s pairing cue: repeated blue, red, and green flashes for the listed Buds4, Buds3, and Buds2 models, or a sound for the older models listed above.
- Keep the target device’s Bluetooth settings open while making the Buds discoverable, then select them from the device list.
- If pairing has timed out, close and reopen the case before trying again.
Device pairing is not replacement-earbud coupling
Bluetooth pairing connects a complete set of earbuds to a phone, computer, or other device. Coupling is the separate process of linking a replacement earbud to its partner. Samsung’s US replacement-coupling instructions say to place both earbuds in the case, leave the lid open, and hold the Connect button for seven seconds until the battery indicator flashes. For Buds4, Samsung says the indicator flashes blue and turns off when coupling succeeds; red flashing means the earbuds are not coupled correctly and the step should be repeated. These replacement instructions are not the normal pairing-mode procedure for connecting a complete pair to a device.
