If you want a Termius alternative, choose by the devices you use and the SSH tasks you need—not by a universal ranking. Tabby is a strong candidate for a cross-platform, open-source desktop workflow; MobaXterm suits Windows users who also need tools such as X11 and RDP; and WindTerm is another cross-platform option with SSH, SFTP, tunnels, and forwarding. For phone-first use, verify native mobile support and host synchronization before switching: the alternatives covered here do not establish a like-for-like mobile replacement for Termius.
This is a feature-based comparison, not a report of hands-on testing. The available product information does not establish a common test setup or six tested clients, so responsiveness and resource use are not ranked.

What Termius offers as a baseline
Termius lists a free Starter plan with a local vault, SSH and SFTP, AI-powered autocomplete, and port forwarding. Its Pro plan is listed at $10 per month when paid annually; that annual-billing equivalent adds a personal cloud vault, mobile and desktop sync, session logs, and snippet automation. These are vendor-listed plan details and pricing accessed in 2026; check the Termius pricing page for current terms and monthly-billing details.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Termius lists clients for iPhone, iPad, Android, macOS, Windows, and Linux. That breadth matters if you regularly move between mobile and desktop or depend on synced host profiles. A desktop alternative can replace the terminal workflow without replacing that mobile-and-sync combination. Termius lists its supported platforms.

Which Termius alternative fits your workflow?
Tabby: cross-platform desktop SSH with an open-source project
Tabby is worth considering if you want a Windows, macOS, or Linux desktop client with SSH connection management, SFTP, split panes, forwarding, and jump hosts. The project also lists serial support and an encrypted local container for secrets and configuration. Those capabilities make it a flexible desktop candidate, but its local encrypted container should not be mistaken for Termius-style cloud synchronization. Confirm how you would move configuration between your own devices before switching. The project describes itself as not lightweight, so do not assume it will use less memory or feel faster; those are workload- and machine-dependent questions that need measurement. See the Tabby project site.
MobaXterm: Windows SSH plus a broader toolbox
For Windows users who want more than a terminal, MobaXterm’s product page lists tabbed SSH, SFTP, an X11 server, RDP, and network tools. Its download page describes Home Edition as free for personal use on Windows 10 and 11. The license page separately addresses commercial or company-environment use under its terms, so do not assume “free for personal use” settles whether a workplace deployment is allowed. Read the current Home Edition download information and license terms before using it at work.

WindTerm: cross-platform sessions, transfer, and forwarding
WindTerm’s official site lists SSH, SFTP, Telnet, serial and local shells, plus tunnels, port forwarding, and file transfer. Consider it if those protocols and connection features suit your desktop workflow. The listed capabilities do not establish mobile clients or synchronized host profiles, and platform builds can change; check the project’s current downloads and release information before installing. See WindTerm’s official site.

- CUSTOMIZABLE BLANK FACE: White PVC card ready for in-house printing so you can add your own logo, employee ID or branding to a working FIDO2 security key
- HARDWARE 2FA AND MFA: FIDO Alliance Certified FIDO2 v2.1 with CTAP Level 1 for phishing-resistant login on compatible FIDO2 and WebAuthn services
- PASSKEY READY: Serves as a WebAuthn passkey and enables passwordless sign-in where the service supports security keys, subject to each service policy
- DUAL INTERFACE: Works by NFC tap over ISO 14443 or a contact card reader over ISO 7816, an NFC smart card that is not a USB device
- CERTIFIED SECURE ELEMENT: NXP JCOP 4.5 (P71D600) with Common Criteria EAL6+ (augmented), backed by a 2 year warranty
- Check every device you use. Confirm operating-system support and whether there is a native client for your phone or tablet. If mobile access is essential, do not treat a desktop-only application as a complete replacement.
- Map host profiles and sync. Find out whether hosts can be grouped, which settings are saved, and how those profiles reach another device. Distinguish local configuration or encrypted local storage from cloud synchronization.
- Trace credential storage. Determine where keys, passwords, agents, and other secrets reside, and whether cloud sync includes credentials. Do not migrate secrets until you understand the destination and its security model.
- Check your connection workflow. Verify the key and agent handling you need, plus jump hosts, port forwarding, and persistent sessions where relevant. A client that supports SSH generally may still differ in how it handles these features.
- Confirm file transfer. Check whether SFTP is built in and whether its interface is adequate for your tasks, or whether you will need a separate application.
- Count only useful extras. X11, RDP, serial, Telnet, snippets, and plugins can make a broader terminal suite valuable, but they add little if you only need SSH and SFTP.
- Read the actual price and license. Compare the free tier’s limits, billing interval, and workplace-use terms—not just a headline price or “free” label. Product plans and licenses can change.
- Measure performance only on a defined setup. If responsiveness or memory matters, compare the same tasks on disclosed hardware and record the workload. The feature descriptions here do not establish a performance winner.
Choosing by the problem you are trying to solve
- You work mostly from a phone and desktop: Prioritize a native mobile client and dependable host sync. Termius explicitly lists iOS and Android alongside desktop platforms; the cited alternatives’ feature descriptions do not demonstrate an equivalent mobile-and-sync setup.
- You want an open-source desktop option: Start by evaluating Tabby’s SSH, SFTP, forwarding, jump-host, and local encrypted-container features against your needs. Account for the project’s own warning that it is not lightweight.
- You administer Windows systems and use X11 or RDP: MobaXterm’s bundled tools may matter more than a narrower SSH client. Check the license terms that apply to your use.
- You need several protocols or forwarding features: Compare WindTerm’s listed SSH, SFTP, Telnet, serial, local-shell, tunnel, and forwarding support with the protocols you actually use.
- You only need basic SSH: Avoid switching for a feature-count advantage. First confirm that the candidate handles your authentication, host organization, and connection setup; then decide whether its price and device coverage justify a move.
What about other names on “Termius alternative” lists?
Roundups also mention PuTTY, iTerm2, SecureCRT, Warp, and Royal TS/TSX, but lists differ and do not establish a canonical set of alternatives or a tested ranking. Treat those names as a shortlist for further evaluation, not proof that a tool matches your platform, synchronization, or SFTP requirements. Check each project’s own documentation before relying on a particular feature. Mobile-focused comparisons also distinguish Android SSH clients, mobile tmux use, and running a local Linux environment on Android; those are different workflows rather than interchangeable ways to replace a desktop SSH manager.
