The Samsung Galaxy A57 5G is the better fit if you want a larger screen and Samsung’s One UI experience. The Google Pixel 9a is the stronger choice if you prefer a more compact phone, Qi wireless charging, Google’s camera features, and a longer stated update commitment. Neither is a universal winner: compare the prices where you live, especially because the newer Pixel 10a is already available as of October 7, 2026.

Which phone should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy A57 if you want a larger screen and Samsung’s interface
Its 6.7-inch display gives you more viewing area than the Pixel 9a’s 6.3-inch panel, which can be useful for video, reading, or a larger on-screen workspace. Samsung also positions the A57 around One UI 8.5 and Galaxy AI features. Those are reasons to favor Samsung’s software environment, not proof that every buyer will prefer it.

Choose the Pixel 9a if compact size and Google features matter more
The Pixel 9a is the smaller-display option. It also offers Qi-certified wireless charging, Google camera features such as Night Sight and Add Me, and a stated seven-year update commitment. That makes it a natural match for buyers who prioritize those features over a larger screen.

How do the screens and size compare?
The Galaxy A57 has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The Pixel 9a has a 6.3-inch pOLED display with a 60–120Hz refresh rate. In practical terms, the choice is primarily between more screen area on the Samsung and a more compact display size on the Pixel; the listed specifications alone do not establish which panel looks better.
Which has better battery life and charging?
Samsung lists a 5,000mAh typical battery for the A57 and specifies up to 45W wired charging in its U.S. announcement. Google lists a 5,100mAh typical battery for the Pixel 9a and Qi-certified wireless charging. Capacity figures do not determine real-world runtime by themselves, and these specifications do not establish a charging-speed comparison under identical conditions.

Independent battery results vary by source. NanoReview lists 24:32 for the Galaxy A57 and 20:15 for the Pixel 9a on its comparison page. By contrast, 01net reports 18h 12m 14s for the A57 and 19h 21m 26s for the Pixel 9a in its mixed-use test. These are publisher-specific results, not measurements from one shared, controlled test, so they should not be treated as a universal runtime ranking. See NanoReview’s comparison and 01net’s comparison for their respective results.
Which phone has the better camera?
The A57’s rear camera hardware consists of a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide, and 5MP macro camera. The Pixel 9a has a 48MP wide camera and a 13MP ultrawide camera, plus Night Sight and Add Me; Google specifies optical and electronic stabilization on the wide camera.

Those specifications do not settle which phone takes better photos. Megapixel counts and the number of rear cameras are not a substitute for a matched comparison across lighting, subjects, and video conditions, and the available evidence does not establish a controlled head-to-head camera winner. Choose based on the features you will use, and seek comparable sample photos or reviews if image quality is your deciding factor.
Which phone will get updates for longer?
Google states that the Pixel 9a will receive seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates. Samsung promises up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates for the Galaxy A57. On the stated duration, Google’s commitment is longer. The update categories are not identical, so compare the terms as stated rather than treating the promises as the same schedule.
