What is the difference between Galaxy A55 and A17 screens?
The A17 has a marginally larger listed panel at 6.7 inches, compared with the A55’s 6.6-inch full-rectangle measurement. Both cited specifications describe FHD+ Super AMOLED displays. The A55 supports up to 120Hz, while the A17 is listed at up to 90Hz, so the A55 has the higher refresh-rate ceiling. Refresh rate is one display specification; it does not by itself establish brightness, color accuracy or overall viewing quality.

How do their cameras and video compare?
Both phones list a 50MP main rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS). The A55’s listed supporting cameras are higher resolution: a 12MP ultrawide and 5MP macro, against the A17’s 5MP ultrawide and 2MP macro on Samsung India’s page. Samsung lists a 32MP selfie camera for the A55 and 13MP for the A17. The cited India specifications list UHD 4K/30fps rear video for A55 and FHD/30fps for A17.

Performance, battery and expandable storage
Processor figures are not benchmark results
Samsung India lists octa-core processors with peak frequencies of up to 2.75GHz for the A55 and 2.4GHz for the A17. Those clock figures alone do not show how fast either phone feels in everyday use or how it performs in demanding apps; no comparative benchmark is available here.

Both specifications state a typical 5,000mAh battery. Equal capacity does not establish equal runtime, and there is no comparative endurance result in the cited sources.

The cited A55 specifications support microSD cards up to 1TB, while the cited Samsung India A17 specification lists up to 2TB. These are regional model specifications; confirm the local variant and whether its SIM tray arrangement affects use of a memory card. A maximum supported card capacity is not the phone’s included storage.

Protection and software support
Samsung UK describes the A55 as IP67-rated, while Samsung’s UK A17 launch announcement describes the A17 as IP54-rated. IP ratings classify resistance to dust and water under defined conditions; they are not guarantees that a phone cannot be damaged.
The UK sources give the A17 the longer stated software commitment: six OS upgrades and six years of security updates, versus up to four OS upgrades and five years of security updates on Samsung’s A55 UK product page. These are commitments stated in particular UK materials, not confirmation of the policy for every regional SKU or a guarantee about update timing. Check Samsung’s current local support information for the model being considered.

What is the Galaxy A55 vs A17 price difference?
The available official price examples do not establish a current, like-for-like gap. Samsung announced a UK A17 5G launch price of £199 on 27 August 2025. Samsung’s US product listing showed $249.99 for an unlocked 128GB A17 when retrieved in 2026. - Storage configuration and whether the phone is new, refurbished or used.
- Retailer, warranty and any carrier or trade-in conditions.
- Whether each amount is a regular price or a time-limited sale.
Subtract the A17’s matched price from the A55’s matched price only after checking those details. The result is specific to that market, retailer and date.
